7 - GA. We currently have the joint best defense in the league, with City, Crystal Pardieux, Spuds & Watford.

Premier League sprint stats: Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey tops the list

http://e0.365dm.com/15/10/16-9/20/hazard-ramsey-milner_3362870.jpg

We use tracking data to reveal the Premier League players with the most sprints this season.

The EA Player Performance Index uses real time player movement tracking to show how far and how fast players run on the pitch.

Sprints are defined as runs in excess of 25.2 kilometres per hour and each individual sprint is logged.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is a clear leader in this season's Premier League having made 560 sprints already, 27 ahead of Watford's Ikechi Anya.

Arsenal Stats and Facts Thread - Page 28 Empty Re: Arsenal Stats and Facts Thread

Post by Kick Wed Oct 14, 2015 4:19 am

This seems like an odd stat.

An interesting one, but an odd one. I mean, someone who constantly gets caught out of position will have to sprint to get back into position, therefore racking up the stats. Also, players who dribble don't tend to sprint that much, so this stat doesn't mean anything to them.

I suppose it shows how much work they do off the ball, but unless you're making attacking runs, I hardly think players should be sprinting all the much, off the ball. And there seems to be a real lack of CF's on that list, indicating that attacking runs may not contribute to it.

Weird I don't see Bellerin here but can't argue with Ramsey and Monreal, just go to show how underrated Monreal is.

@Kick - are you implying that Ramsey gets out of position a lot , or is it just a general assumption of the stat as a whole?
He's scoring and assisting has been a bit off, but many fans seem to think his contribution to the team is priceless. RG even says, he is the first player Wenger has on the team sheet, RG would know.

No, I'm not implying anything against Ramsey, infact, he is one of the few Arsenal players that I'd take at Chelsea in a heartbeat.

It was more of an assumption on the stat.

Post by Sri Wed Oct 14, 2015 4:28 pm

I am sure that there has to be a minimum distance requirement, before notching up a number on the sprint. That would explain why more midfielders and fullbacks are on the list - as they rush up to join an attack. Also, it means that they rush forward/backward, i.e. quick transition. Not slowly pushing up/back as a team. I can also imagine that rushing back to press/get into position gets counted.

Btw, I am pretty sure that as things stand right now, there are more than just a 'few Arsenal players' that Chelsea fans would take in a heartbeat. Razz

Ozil, who claimed his seventh BPL assist of 2015/16 against Everton, has now created more chances than anyone else this season (42). West Ham United's Dimitri Payet is second with 41 while Cazorla is third with 35.

Cazorla remains top of the season stats for passes on 832, 83 more than Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas, while he was the fourth-most accurate passer in Matchweek 10 with 92.5%.

True testament to Santi's ability that he can be so effective as a deep-lying play-maker despite how... deep he actually has to sit sometimes.

MJ, you remember the discussions about how Santi is unfit for deeper roles in a physical PL because he is 'short and weak'?

There were some people who actually thought we were extremely foolish to keep Santi instead of replacing him with Snake Fabreglass.

There have been 3 goals scored in each of our domestic games in October this season:

3-0 home win against ManU
3-0 away win against Watford
2-1 home win against Everton
3-0 away win against Swansea

Even in our COC loss, there were three!

0-3 away loss againt Sheffield Wednesday

BTW by the numbers column on Arseblog says that Cech has already gone past David James all time Premier League Record for Clean Sheets
