how dare you exclude fabregas from the starting line up.... ffs they paid 40 million for him and he is loved by barca fans for being one of them.... #blasphemy

Can you shut up please. Your clueless. Fab has showed countlessly that when he is in the side alongside with Iniesta on the wing, that Barca have struggled to win games because Barca don't stretch the defense due to the lack of inside runs from Pedro and Iniesta. Cesc doesn't help. He creates problems. Messi doesn't have the space he needs because of Cesc. Roura still can't figure this out and its costing us...

Don't care whether it was sarcastic or not, its unneccessary.

We all know that. It was for Pep's satisfaction only and he only stayed for a season... He has created problems and has been poorly managed.

This was the central issue i was trying to raise in the thread i made about arsenal and barcelona a few days ago . Why is it that the teams fabregas play for tend to be weak on the counterattack ? Does he have a debilitating effect on teams defensive capabilities ?

i personally think this is just a very unfortunate nature of the way barca and arsenal play . Although he does have to raise his tactical and defensive game . An intelligent coach can get the best out of fabregas and make the team defensively solid . Look at Del Bosque with spain, and wenger in 2005-06 and 2007-2008 .

Fabregas offers nothing defensively and day by day I'm becoming convinced that he is tactically inept. He kept getting in front of Iniesta and blocked his passing lanes. It was like having an extra defender for us ffs

Overall a lazy, overconfident one trick pony if yesterday's game was all you had to judge him with.

you are wrong, Messi is at his speak already, and it's more about how long can he stay there. he can fine tune things in his game but he wont get much better.

CR has been peaking for a couple of years now, and he has been maintaining that level for a while. What he is fine tuning now, is his ability to remain calm in tough moments, that's just age and experience mostly.

Messi has peaked already, and can maintain this level as well like ronaldo did. the ways his game can change are if he maybe becomes a true AM with a n9 ahead of him, assists more, score less etc... him finding different ways to impact the game. But in doing that he will lose something in the process, probably his predatory instincts in the box.

How can you say Messi has already peaked? He has been better than the previous year every time. Given that we're still in February it's a very early call.

Right. The whole team is not going very well this season and it's not a big deal imo as it was due to happen. The whole question is how the management is going to deal with that ... Either go for the likes of Song, fabregas or less popular players but who'll fit in like Abidal,Alves (before they came to barca).
It's not as easy though...

I envy the players who are going to play besides a 28-29 yo Messi. He would have so much experience as he has been playing for 7 years now.
So for me , he might me less prolific in terms of goals by the age of 28-29 but in terms of display he might be better .

Padding stats, doesn't necessarily mean better. His game has suffered tbh.

Not sure if this is part of his "decline" but he did not make himself available for the pass against us. A false 9 sacrifices giving the team shape and leading the line in exchange for midfield fluency by creating triangles.

I don't know if this has been repeat thing but it wasn't present Tuesday night. He dropped deep but there were times he'd just stand behind Khedira or Xabi and not really try to get himself open. His positioning and movement imo wasn't very good. I couldn't tell you if this is part of his "decline" because I simply haven't watched Barca enough to say that but it really stood out for me.
