Re: Gerard Deulofeu
Many talked similar when Tata came, not particularly about Messi running, but how the whole team will have to do a lot of physical work and press in the game and bla bla bla... that prehype about managers never stops in BarcaFußball wrote:Under Luis Enrique even Messi will run like Mandzukic.

Tata was an unknown. All we knew were hearsay phrases like "he's a Bielsaista" so you hoped he would bring back the intensity. Turned out he was a softie like Rijkaard in his later years who tried to be friends with the stars of Barca. Remember when Messi, Xavi, Nerman were injured and Alexis scored that freekick goal and Tata was unnaturally happy on the sidelines? Remember his explanation in the presser afterwards: "I knew he would score and I was happy because this was probably his last chance to take a freekick with Messi, Xavi etc. injured." Like WTF?! You know he's a great freekick taker and don't order him to take a few from time to time? What's the coach for then? Remember Pep ordering Robben back from the penalty spot and let Müller take it at the beginning of the season? Yeah, that's how you do it.
Lucho is more of an iron hand man and leader, not someone who tries to be your friend. The pressing WILL be back.

Re: Gerard Deulofeu
Watched the game on Saturday. Saw zero problems with work rate, tracking back or pressing. He did it all.
Where he actually failed was he couldnt get past the leftback much, lost the ball trying to beat him a couple times.

Re: Gerard Deulofeu
I agree
I think judging by the video I posted, and the one of him mocking Ronaldo, is that his issue isn't talent. I think the rumors of his inflated ego are what's really going on. I think Lucho just wanted to teach him a lesson that he needs to mature, cause talent wise he looks solid already (probably about as productive as Pedro is nowadays with a higher ceiling at this stage in there careers)

Re: Gerard Deulofeu
played a full game in the u21's game against hungary today. Had amore diciplined role played by the touchline as a rm in the first half and then switched to the other side when sarabia came on
didn't have that many touches when playing on the right but he did track back moderately. got to see the ball alot more as the lm, lost the ball easily with some poor passes but vigorously chased the ball down when he did lose it. Alot better than when I last watched him so some form of encouragement for you guys is still very selfish around the box but it didn't cause spain any particular trouble as they were already ahead and cruising when he decided to go solo

Also won a penalty (missed by Muniain) and assisted the only goal (scored by Saul).

Re: Gerard Deulofeu
Emery on Deulofeu
“He has incredible qualities but lacks others. Put him out there, one on one and ... pfff,” Emery told Sid Lowe.
“But make him play football with teammates, on a big pitch, and it’s hard. He doesn’t have the maturity or capacity for sacrifice yet.
"I told him: 'There are players here who aspire to a contract like yours, men with less talent but more hunger: Iborra, Carriço, Vitolo. They know what it costs. You haven’t experienced that. When you do, you’ll grow. I hope you get that. If not here, somewhere else.'"

Re: Gerard Deulofeu
nothing surprising....considering the guy is running on loans while having chances to play in some of the great teams. what you guyz think we should do with him. if he is not a team player, there is no reason to think he will into our squad.

Re: Gerard Deulofeu
Doesn't sound like he's ever gonna get it. Ton of skill, no brain on that one. Could turn into our own version of Bale

Re: Gerard Deulofeu
i dont think his case is similar to Bale. i would rather compare his attitude to Balotelli. he also has talents but still act like nerd, with little intention to learn from the coaches. I mean nearly every coach has been angry with him. Defo is young so coaches does not show anger rather bench him in a hope he learns.

danyjr wrote:What an overrated player. His antics are Balotelli-like, yet he is not even good enough to clean Balotelli's boots.
Selfish, complacent and wasteful. Everton should send him back.
I got to hand it to you danyjr, though I personally had doubts about his character considering some of the photos he was placing in social media, but looks like you were one of the few who could smell this problem early on. I never thought he could be coaching-resistant, I just expected a Ronaldo type of player who thinks a bit more about himself than he should.
EDIT: the quoted post is from Dec 2013.
