BREAKING NEWS: Berlusconi sentenced to four years in prison

AC Milan president and former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has received a four-year prison sentence for his part in a tax fraud scandal.
The 76-year-old, along with 10 others, was on trial after it was alleged that the defendants were involved in a scheme to purchase American movies for his company, Mediaset through an offshore company and had failed to declare payments properly to avoid taxes
It was also alleged that Berlusconi had relicensed the films, and pocketed the difference, making the Milan supremo some €250 million.
Berlusconi has been involved in a number of legal procedures to do with his business ventures, but has either been cleared, or the cases have been dropped due to a time constraints.
However, this time, he has been found guilty and will spend the next four years behind bars, but his legal team is widely expected to appeal the verdict.
Berlusconi served as Prime Minister of the country between 1994 and 1995, 2001 and 2006, and 2008 and 2011, but recently announced that he was not going to run for a fourth spell.

Looks like the only Bunga-Bunga parties 'Ol Silvio is going to be attending for a couple years are those hosted by his very large, tattooed roommate named "Tank"

- ReutersBerlusconi has the right to appeal the ruling two more times before the sentence becomes definitive and will not be jailed unless the final appeal is upheld.

Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has been sentenced to four years in prison and will be forced to pay part of a €10m fine for tax evasion.
The verdict was delivered by a Milan court on Friday afternoon – six years after the trial which looked at the activity of his Mediaset TV company – originally began.
Legal cases in Italy must pass two levels of appeal before any verdict is made final. The statue of limitations rule on this case expires in 2013.
Berlusconi is expected to appeal.

So effectively he hasn't been convicted yet? I mean if a higher court has to uphold the ruling before anything takes effect wtf is the point of the lower court?

This is Italy ffs. Appeals will take years to go through and in the end the judges will be bribed or pressured. There is less than 10% of Berlu ever going to jail.

rofl his sentence has been reduced to a year now, in ten years time the judge will be sentenced for 2.5 years in prison for his role in this, quote me
