I think Matri would make a good fan, he has all the traits. He can sing, jump around, shout at the t.v. from the comfort of his own home and he can afford season tickets.

That would be awesome. I really could see Marchisio becoming Del Pieros heir in not only leadership and club loyalty, but also into the SS position. Everyone should remenber that Marchisio actually started out as a Trequartista.

What are you talking about? Marchisio hasnt been tried in the trequartista role for Italy. Nontolivo and Thiago Motta have been tried there while Marchisio played CM.

Don't see why so many people think tall, strong forwards would make good CBs. Ibra: I have yet to see him run this season, or indeed in the past few years, how would he be able to track down a forward with that kind of attitude? Ronaldo: being accustomed to a free role so often he wouldn't have the positioning required to play CB.

Don't remember Marchisio ever being in the TQ role for Italy, normally he's on the right of a midfield diamond that rotates.

But last season he was scoring a lot coming from midfield, his link up play with Vucinic was fantastic and his ball control, dribbling etc keeps on improving. If he could stay in more advanced positions he really could profit and we have an able replacement in Pogba who if we're being honest is in better form than him and Vidal.

I would definitely consider it, Giovinco has been a flop although he might just be terrible anywhere but wide left on the pitch.

Vucinic should be the main striker until we buy a goal getter then he can play a supporting role to that person whoever that might be. Then Marchisio can go back to LCM if the TQ role fails.

100% this.

Cristiano, Ibra and various other forwards...watch them defend set peices...its shockingly bad whenever they have to do anything more than the basics. They have zero awareness of players who make runs behind them, dont understand which spaces are the most dangerous and just dont take up good positions.

They only come in use at the front post or corner of the 6 yard box to clear away in a zonal type system.

And thats set peice, where you have time to think about where to be and what to do. In a full on game at full speed they would be lost completely.

I guess you could say that about a number of players but just looking at him with the ball and even without compared to a few seasons ago he looks to be improved in nearly every aspect.

Apart from the obvious one, Ramires could play as CF, Luiz as right winger, Di Maria as LWB, Pepe as DM etc.

More interesting is to find what player would do better in a position different to his current one. I think Luiz isn't suited to be a CB or Modric as CAM.

Yea comparing Marchisio from the World Cup to him now is a huge gap. Marchisio the season before the WC was playing as a regista/box to box mid in a 4-2-3-1 for a Juve side that ended up in 7th. Nothing went right in the World Cup for Italy. Everyone underperformed, so blaming Marchisio for not being effective in one game as a TQ is not really fair. Since then, he has massively improved in every aspect. And he was already an excellent dribbler and has only gotten better since then.

pique is actually a good striker, you know pep always used to send him up in the last 25 mins when he wanted an equalizer or a win... that's why he scored against Inter Milan in the 82nd minute in CL semis, he is a threat in the air, and is good on the ball as well... very often he ventures into attacking positions.

That goal vs. inter, although it was too little too late, had Pique display awesome finishing. such a nice goal
