Tbf Benfica game could've gone either way..They were very impressive especially in the 2nd leg where they dominated you with 10 men..Their finishing let them down though..If only Nelson Olivera killed off his easy chance presented to him in the dying minutes..Things could've been different..In conclusion you were extremely lucky against Benfica in particular imo especially since some ref decisions went in your favor as well.

WTF??!! Granted we were not playing well in that tie, don't give me that toss about being lucky.

"If only they had finished their chances"....how on earth is it our fault that they didn't finish their chances? They had poor finishing and they paid for it! We had poor finishing against Liverpool just 2 weeks ago and we paid for it! This is football. The ball has to go in the back of the net for it to count as a goal. Christ! Shouldn't they be ashamed about not being able to beat us despite our team going through crisis at the time? How is this all down to us?

It's no one faults, it's down to luck. Even the best player in the world has a margin error bigger than 5 cm when shooting a penalty: meaning that everytime he shoots aiming a precise place, it will go 5 cm one way or the other easily. Luck.

The thing is that I don't take anything away from Chelsea. You were lucky, but in the end it's our fault, because last season we never played well enough to be able to leave luck aside as a factor as we've done whenever we've won CL. So it was our fault to let Chelsea be lucky.

That is because the opposition team had an equally good chance of progressing seeing how the game panned out,they came extremely close to do it actually..About that particular game i would say Chelsea 'survived' Benfica and not 'beat' them and dont kid yourselves you had some luck going your way with Ref decisions as well for example the red card to Pereira was extremely harsh(which almost killed the tie) and that is all down to luck.

Consider this. Before AVB was sacked, everyone agreed that Chelsea would be knocked out, so that rules out the players taking it on themselves and winning the CL.

RDM being sucked means that the board thinks that it wasn't really his merit to win CL last season.

So it basically means that Chelsea's board accept it was down to luck.

I think it down to the fact that 3 teams were missing chances that they would normally score that gives the impression that Chelsea were lucky. Not that i think Chelsea were lucky, but just giving a possible explanation to why people think they were lucky.

So your point here is that Benfica had an equal chance to qualify. So if they had qualified would you have said they were lucky as well?
