Barça - Alavés. King's Cup Empty Barça - Alavés. King's Cup

Competition: Copa del Rey
Stadium: Camp Nou
City: Barcelona
Capacity: 99786
Television: Marca TV

Don't know the called up players, so I think it's too difficult to choose the lineup. Probably it will be made up of subs + B team players and Messi to come in in the second half.

Edit:
Called-up players:

Pinto
Oier (31)
Fàbregas
Puyol
Villa
Thiago
Pedro
Tello
Adriano
Song
Mascherano
Montoya
Dos Santos
Sergi Roberto (28)
Deulofeu (27)
Planas (29)

Messi not there.
So I guess the lineup will be something like:

Pinto
Montoya Mascherano Puyol Adriano
Sergi Roberto Song Cesc
Deulofeu Villa Tello

Bench: Planas, Oier, Thiago, Dos Santos and Pedro.

Good from Tito resting Messi again.

Yeah, concur...Would love to see Leo rest altogether but we all know that is a remote possibility owing to his competitive nature...Plus, Gerd is in his sights and the world's player of all time, who has shattered record after record, has only records to compete against

I think its more the record than his competitive nature at this point to be honest. Which sort of saddens me, I would rather the record not mean that much to him or anyone really but to be fair it is really special to have a record like that and its something to look back on. So I understand an guess accept it.

Still, as someone who cares about the team in the long term and not the record in the slightest I would rather he not play at all.

Messi has always cared about records. Most forwards do so you cant really hold it against him. What annoys me is when ppl try to make him out to be the most altruistic person on the planet... Rolling Eyes

I dont think he has always cared...I think back when he was playing on the rightwing he didnt care. But he got a taste for goals and no its part of him.

Not too much wrong with that really, to be a good striker, a good finisher even...you got to have a desire to score goals.

I dont know what others think about if he is has this desire or not, I think he obviously does and you see it when he doesnt score or misses a few chances..he doesnt play quite as well. His goalscoring is linked to his overall performance now. Which again, nothing wrong with that.

One thing I will say though is, he still plays the team game. In the final third he is as ruthless as they come, but you wont ever see him forcing it down the pipe and taking shots from positions he has no buisnes taking them from. He isnt like that guy over at Madrid.

Actually i think Messi did not ask to play after Tito decided he wont. And if my spanish serves me well, Tito said that if Messi was to care about record he would have asked me to play him. http://www.mundodeportivo.com/20121127/fc-barcelona/rueda-prensa-vilanova-tito-villa-messi_54355699058.html

would be a good lineup to give both Song and JDS a chance of playtime, and no point in using Puyol on a match like this, why risk an unnecessary injury

I don't really see JDS getting the starting spot tbh. Thiago is fit and ready and tomorrow is such a good opportunity for him to get game time needed to get back to the starting lineup. Hopefully Song is in midfield and Puyol doesn't just get called in to warm the bench...
Tello and Deuf on the wings and Villa in the middle. Gonna cause problems for that Alaves side... :coffee:

Sorry, genuinely meant Pique, not Puyi. Changed it.

I dunno if we'll see JDS from the start...

JDS starting is extremely unlikely...This is not a player Tito is counting on this season so it would not reflect well within the squad to hand him a start

The loan option was mentioned by Tito again this past week for the player

Oh for sure, if JDS starts this game we going to have a mutiny on our hands.

Better be safe than sorry.

What do you mean Dani? I don't really see why anyone else would be upset about him getting a chance.

Only thing is its just a waste of time for Song or Roberto, who both could do with it. Both players Tito prefers.

Kizz, Dani says this for this line:

No offence FCBarça, but Dani's comment made me chuckle.

Before anyone gets upset, tis was just a joke. There is a hint of truth in it, as in if JDS was start nothing would happen, nobody would care. But just a bit of fun
