France were pretty meh tbh....

Ribery, Cabaye and Valbeuna being the stand outs but the rest seem to treat it like it was a friendly.

Fullbacks were not good enough on the France side either, if you have wingers that come inside you're fullbacks have to provide some attacking impetus and you could have had a cone on both sides and wouldn't have done any worse.

As long our players haven't got injured though cheers

Not sure what Deschamps was thinking putting Sissoko on the wing with Sagna at RB though, almost as bad as us putting Cisse on the wing and Simpson at RB Laughing

Ribery played great. Benz is in a funk... still creates chances though. Just no finishing whatsoever lol. The raping Ribery gave Lahm was impressive.

Rami is an absolute joke. He comes in and the middle of our defense goes out the window lol.

Capoue terrible as well.

Sissoko is not ready for this level. Bad game. Ran hard. But he doesn't defend at all and his decision-making is slow.

Sagna played very well and it's very encouraging.

Cabaye, Matuidi and Evra were solid as usual.

These friendlies pretty much die at halftime though. You start changing 2-3 players at halftime and then it becomes 3-4-5 as you go along. Lose continuity and cohesiveness.

Game was attractive... but I saw what i needed to see in first 45 mins. Basically, France plays like Real Madrid. Same issue too: Great forwards and average midfield. So we try to bypass the midfield as much as possible.

Congrats Germany. Great footy. But your problem is the same... middle of the defense is very suspect. You guys cannot win a tournament until that's fixed. And no, Badstuber is not the answer lol.

Howedes and Hummels as CBs and play Schmelzer at LB for God's sake. They should think of taking Lahm's captainship. Play Reus, Gotze, Muller and Ozil at the same time, with Gundogan and Khedira behind them.

Well, today Schmelzer, Reus, Götze and Schweinsteiger were out, so there was not much chance for Löw but to try and make do without them ^^

Was impressed with Matuidi shows why he's above Capoue atm he's just so much better.

Agreed on Rami too.

As for Sissoko i think he can play well at this level if he plays in the middle, out wide is just a waste.

I do find when watching France there's too much individualism and not enough team play and until that changes i can't see much progress in the short term.

Can't agree on Evra and Sagna, from a defensive side they were very solid but they need to be offering more going forward with the game so central focused.

I saw this game simultaneously as much as I could along with Italia. France have a fantastic future.

Sissokho cannot be blamed in not defending as he is more of a Box-to-Box player with strengths in his creativity. I don't know why everyone is baffled when he doesn't defend.

I panned Benzema today as his finishing was awful but the amount of touches he received with the ball was encouraging as he knew how to get in all the right positions and created a flurry of chances.

Ribery absolutely ripped Phillip Lahm a new whole. Humiliation there.

France's midfield unsurprisingly was overtaken when (take a guess)....Matudi went off as he completely shored the German midfield and plugged the open gaps within the first half with his tireless running. France as a whole didn't move as well along with not looking as dynamic without him.
Sagna was fantastic and didn't put a foot wrong all night.

MOTM for me was Ribery and my personal choice, Y.Cabaye. Fantastic performance and held his own vs the German midfield with excellent ground covered, kept France ticking, kept the wide areas flowing. Superb from the Frenchman.

Sissoko was soooo poor. I mean, he's played on the right side in front of the RB for the past 3 years at Toulouse. Just because he wasn't there 2 games at Newcastle doesn't mean you forget how lol.

This isn't Pardew football. It's a lot more tactical and technical at top level NT play. He will never, ever become a AM for France NT. Just won't happen. So he either does the job or he's done.

Pretty certain he lost his starting job. It will be Diaby or, if injured, Gonalons in March. Pogba to take over after U20 WC in the summer unless he's needed before.

Benzema is quickly putting himself in danger too. It is now 11 games since he's scored for France NT. If Giroud picks up his level a bit, i have a feeling Benz gets benched. He's lucky that the CF position is weak in France right now. But he needs to be careful. There is talent that can emerge out there.

Fair enough Sports lol, its either AM or forget it tbh.

CM he doesn't offer enough defensively and on the wing he's just flat out wasted, i understand he's played there before but he's still wasted as far as i'm concerned... get Valbeuna out there and proper AM in the middle or what ever but Sissoko out there is not going to work.

Sissokho is a Box-to-box player who needs freedom to express that trait in between the lines. If he is expected to just create or defend as a mez'zala it will not take advantage of his all round game. He simply needs more time in France under Deschamps.

Benzema for France is being almost as a 9 (without the False and a half term) which is a square peg in a round hole. He cannot be expected to perform in a role outside his comfort zone. He is at his best playing a Cassano type SS/#10 role 'off' and around the play of a target man. In other words someone like Giroud and dare I say? Bafetembi Gomis.

Grenier and Gourcuff need to be called up again. Alessandrini needs to get more chances to prove himself.

Valbuena is an absolute monster. Insanely underrated player as I personally rate him even above Ribery. Yes, I said that.

Mertesacker and Hummels were solid as f*ck, Lahm was struggling against Ribery but did very well in some occassions, Höwedes - can't blame him for playing out of position although didn't have much to do.

Defence should be: Lahm - Mertesacker - Hummels - Schmelzer

My only problem for me is the strikers position, Gomez just doesn't fit in there in my opinion and with Klose out for far too much - there's no one else to fill in... not to mention Löw's reluctance to call up other strikers like Kießling, Meier etc... I think that's the biggest problem for now and not the defence.

Yeah... koscielny rocked. Avoided his typical brain fart that ruins his otherwise boss performances. He got a knock on his lower leg in first half and was taken out for precautionary reasons.

Sagna's ankle is still sore and he's playing through it per Wenger. Bad pairing with Sissoko on the right though. Sissoko can't defend and both have awful technique on the attack lol. Khedira looked technical compared to those 2 lol.
