If you enforce a strict curfew and you suspect some players are breaking it what's so surprising about this? I agree it's dishonest but it's not disgraceful, if the players were staying home as they're supposed to then they wouldn't be followed. Fact of the matter is that night activities affect performance.

According to reports published by 'El Mundo', the Barcelona directors were concerned about Piqué's private life. They hired a private detective agency to follow him between September 2009 and early October 2010. They wanted to know who he was calling and about his bank account movements.

Barcelona was concerned about the defender's interest in card games, such as poker. The document stresses that the player would spend between €3,000 and €4,000 in a single afternoon at casinos, and when he was in Manchester, in his own words, he "gambled a lot and ended up spending €30,000".

Another of the reports reveals how the club monitored the time of his phone calls. Before a Barça-Tenerife game, "he was on the phone until 1:23 am", whilst after beating Sevilla in January 2010, he was talking "until 5:41 am".

They even followed him to a concert. Detectives are said to have followed him when he went to see Alejandro Sanz perform in Barcelona in September 2010. They took numerous photos of him alongside his teammate Carles Puyol, as well as of the car he drove. They also stated that he drove at "an average of 170 km/h, reaching 200 km/h at times".
