Fluminense Football Club is coming to play Orlando City Soccer on June 22nd at the Citrus Bowl. Obviously, I know about Fred, but anyone Brazilian football aficionados out there able to give me the low down on the team?

I'm going to be helping for the friendly and will be probably guiding them around the Disney the days before the game.

Thank you ahead of time.

Attacking midfielder Thiago Neves plays for Fluminese.

I had lost track of him for quite a while, was very shocked to see him called up to the national team a short while ago. So, though I don't watch, I suppose he must be having some measure of personal success in Brazil.

A beautiful football team that will be in the MLS in a few years.

Seriously, I'll have to post the live feed of one of our games because we play some seriously beautiful football.

Not a fan of our kits this season, but at our season launch and trophy unveiling party for season ticket holders:

We've held our own against "bigger clubs", in our short history we've beaten Newcastle United and have a 2-3-2 records against MLS sides (only lost once to Sporting KC our sister club and FC Dallas twice).

We are also sister clubs of Fluminense and Stoke City (our ownership group largely comes from current or former board members). While we have their ownership group, we definitely play more like the first two than the latter.

Nope, Thiago Neves is still as awful as ever.

So its a team that isnt playing in the MLS but soon will be? So its an expansion team? isnt what what the Cosmos is going to be? I thought the MLS was the only real league in the USA, or is the MLS finally getting a 2nd division? Im still confused lol

Flu have Thiago Never, Fred, and Deco

but also current National team players, Jean and Diego Cavalieri (ex-Liverpool)

Depends with which squad they come with..because June 22nd interferes with Confederations Cup and Brasileirao.. which most likely means Fred and other bigger players won't be there.

Thiago Never and Deco at the least will be there though.

Theres a league called the NASL, which is the second division, but theres no promotion or relegation between the two.

The cosmos ironically are joining that league this season, but they are the clear favorite to be the 20th team at this point.

I would like to see Orlando in the MLS though. Though, im not sure how that will happen without relegation, but the MLS is lightyears away from adopting that.

Though honestly if I was MLS commissioner, I'd get rid of Chivas USA, and replace them with Orlando. It doesn't make any sense to have three teams in California and zero in Florida. The NBA and NFL with 30+ teams can afford to have multiple teams even in the same stadium, but the MLS with only 20 shouldn't be overlapping like that.

There are actually 2 leagues below the MLS: NASL and USL Pro. Orlando City is the best team in the two leagues by a pretty wide margin.

The MLS has a partnership with USL Pro which has it set up as the place for them to use almost as a reserve team league with the existing USL Pro teams. Most decided to adopt a USL Pro team instead of fielding reserve teams of their own though. Orlando has 5 players from Sporting Kansas City on our team.
