Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Cavani, Falcao, Soldado, Higuain and Negredo have better goal records than Bale.
Bale is just hyped up too much currently. Also Bale isn't really a winger, just in case there was an argument of 'he scores goals as a winger' when compared to those strikers.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
on a serious note though, i do believe bale will be great for rm. he is by FAR the clinical winger in the world. this guy never makes a crappy cross, never has a crappy shot, his end product is VERY consistent . He may not be able to beat the top class fullback's all the time, but when he does get in those critical areas of the pitch he always chooses the right option. very clinical player.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Yeah Bale is a striker. No doubt about it. He went from 10 assists in EPL the previous year to 4 last year. 21 goals on 165 shots is awful too... that's 12.7%
He's really a very poor man's CR7. Don't let the awards fool you... those are more about marketing, politics, etc. Bale is the perfect poster boy for EPL.
I think he's a good player. But again, if you are going to overpay... i'd say 50 mil.
Falcao and Cavani, who got over 60, are much better than him.

Comparing Bale to Strikers on goal records.
Bale is not a striker.
Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Also don't forget he's even worse than Robben when it comes to being one footed. He barely touches the ball with his right foot at all.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
That's not true at all anymore. I remember at least 7 or 8 of his goals being right footed last year and some of them from distance. He's pretty good with his right foot now.McAgger wrote:Also don't forget he's even worse than Robben when it comes to being one footed. He barely touches the ball with his right foot at all.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Nothing wrong with being a one footed player if you still find a way to dominate others.
Off the top of my head Ozil and Messi both are one footed and i have barely seen any one questioning them just because they dont use the weak foot.

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
he is an average dribbler though, if the oppositions fullback is pacy bale isnt going to go past him. for example, he wont do well against someone like alba .

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Bale's pretty much a forward. Even if he wasn't it doesn't make him superior to strikers. Goals are goals.

Well I meant his dribbling, passing and other aspects of his game. Nonexistent with the right foot. His shooting obviously still got plenty of power in it so surely some will go in. Watch him dribble the ball he doesn't even touch it with his right foot.

True bot Ozil, Messi and you can even throw in Robben..while one footed, can actually dribble and therefore it takes some level of team play to slow them down.
Bale can be stopped by simply playing deep as a team and allowing the space in the midfield. Doesnt always happen of course, every team has their own tactics which they may prefer to go with over completely changing the line..which dramatically changes how you want to play.

Adit is right though, 60m for him isn't crazy money. 100m is, but in todays market where Soldado goes for 30 and Cavani for 60, I'd say 60 mil for Bale is reasonable.
Too bad Flo thinks a 100 mil is reasonable

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
SAF played Bale out of the game last season in the 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane by just forcing him every time to move to his right and double team is left foot. He couldn't do anything all game, it was a bit sad watching Bale be so helpless.

Sure, his dribbling just like Ronaldo, walcott (or any pace depending dribbler for that matters) becomes non existent once teams play deep. But i do think you are forgetting his best trait, dem long shots. I reckon i have seen countless long rangers this season from Bale when opposition allowed him space and time in the middle. At this point i think it is safe to say that teams will fear giving him time on the ball an space.
Yeah the long range odds are small but Bale is probably one of the best if not the best at it..i think i ll take those odds.

SAF
learned from his mistakes in first game, that ability to adapt

No credits given for double teaming
I actually rate players whome opposition double team often very highly .

Yep agree, today's market Bale is around 60m range. But Perez is looking to pay double of that

Re: Gareth Bale transfer saga
Bale is not worth 60m because Soldado is going for 30m it doesn't work like that.
How many players have gone for 60m or above anyway? very few.
Especially when Reus will be available for 35m next summer, who is a much better footballer.

Ancelotti's latest press conference:
"It's difficuilt to talk about Bale because he doesn't play for Real Madrid. We'll see what happens, I'm happy with the squad.
"The club is looking for a solution in the case of Bale, but there's no news"
"Our goal is not to bring more players but make the most of this squad."

Soldado has a better goal record than Bale as well if both are compared as forwards.

Reus said a few days ago that the only club he cares at the moment is Borussia Dortmund and the only club he also follows is Manchester United. I'd like to see Reus in a MUFC shirt.

Imagine the amount of teams bidding 35m for him next season
can at least see 10 teams after him.

I don't know who to feel more sorry for Ramon Calderon or anyone gullible enough to believe a word he says
