Hard to look at this game as anything but an opportunity to give our fringe players a chance to impress.

Didn't Notts stung us during Roy! I would want Skrtel (if fit), Cissoko, Allen and Borini in the starting XI. Other key players like Lucas, Coutinho or Sturridge can be subbed.

So early I had forgotten that we had match on Tue. 
So Art's team seems to be fine for me...but instead of Aspas we should start with Ibe. Let's keep Aspas for Weekend. Also it is more important about whom to keep on the bench...

Yeah I hope Stevie is rested. But I'm glad BR is going with a strong team. Really don't want to take any chances. We've been knocked out by some shitty teams in the last 4/5 years in both cups. Northampton Town, Oldham, Reading, Barnsley.

That's also true, but putting in a complete different starting XI from the first team is not a good idea as we learned last season at Oldham.

I'd rather take the chance of it being a close game and fielding our bench players than just go with over 50% of first-team regulars. I mean, Skrtel, Sterling, Cissokho, Jones, Borini, Allen, Alberto... which of these isn't good enough to beat a declining Notts County side at home?

The same was said before Oldham last season, and we saw how that worked out. Catch-22 for Rodgers. He plays a strong team and we win comfortably and everyone complains about not using depth. He puts out a 2nd string and the team somehow loses and he's criticised by fans for not taking the cup/opponents seriously.

I prefer 4-5 players replacing regulars (Lucas, Gerrard, Agger) then (depending on the situation) three more subbed-in.
