Re: 2014/15 Champions League
Thibaut Courtois WON'T play against Chelsea in Champions League semifinals as Atletico seek fourth successive loan spell:
Reports in Spain suggest Diego Simeone will not play the on-loan Blues keeper in this month's Champions League semifinal ties as the club try to win a fourth successive loan of the Belgian

Highly, highly doubt that.

I doubt that. Winning CL could allow them to buy a top quality GK.

Made to look good through Pepsqueak's one-trick-pony incompetence
They'll be quaking in their boots when the Chelsea come to town
No but seriously, they're a phenomenal side. Will be hugely difficult for whoever gets through tomorrow.

"If I had to make a prediction for the Champions League, Chelsea and Bayern are ahead of all the others, although the Spanish sides are still dangerous."

I only a little while ago realised our first CL match is this coming week
Here I was making the City thread and that's not even our next game

Yes, a home win over Schalke would be a great start.

It's also worth noting that Schalke have a lot of injuries at present, they will not be able to field a full strength team, which will certainly benefit us.

Re: 2014/15 Champions League
Funny as they also had a slew of key injuries when we faced them last season as I remember.
Good news for sure.

Re: 2014/15 Champions League
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho eyes winning Champions League in his second season for third time:
The Special One lifted the Champions League in year 2 of his reigns at Porto and Inter Milan, and has set his sights on doing so again with Chelsea to become the first coach ever to lift three European Cups at three different clubs

"Do I want to try to win it again? Of course."
"What drives me is to try to win. I work for my club, for my players and for the club supporters. I don't work for myself."
"If I win it once more, to win with three clubs is unique. But even if I don't do it, how many top managers in the world have only one or even not a single one?"
"The greatest in our country, he won it twice."
"If at the end of my career I've achieved that situation, then good, but it's far from being an obsession and it's not something that I think about a lot."
"I have the ambition to win it again, but in this moment I only think about don't play Europa League."
"We have a championship of six matches and three opponents and we have to do everything to qualify."

Re: 2014/15 Champions League
In some better news, Maribor managed to pull one back against Sporting with a stoppage time equaliser, so at least a slight ray of light on this otherwise diabolical evening.

José on the Champions League:
— via the Mirror
"My dream is that the Champions League Final is Chelsea against any one of the other 31 teams. I don’t mind which. I dream of playing it!"
"But I don’t think we are the favourites. The quality of the squads of the two big Spanish clubs and of Bayern puts them on a higher dimension."
"And the English teams are squeezed into the maximum of domestic competitions, not only because of the characteristics of the games themselves but also because of their scheduling. Next month no European team will do what we will do: play Sunday and Tuesday."

Re: 2014/15 Champions League
Another Champions League game, another half-empty stadium for 'big club' Manchester City.
1-1 the result and leaves them with a bit of a hill to climb if they're to get out of the group.

It is sad to see, they really should pack out that place like every other top club, but they don't.
