The biggest thing with strikers is having that arrogance and confidence that they're going to score...  you want that.  Does that lead to bad decisions at times?  Sure.  But that's only a problem if the striker makes a bad decision more often than not and becomes selfish.  An overzealous shot here and there is not big deal to me... not to mention that Benz was in a good scoring position there so it wasn't a bad shot.  But he could have played CR7 in for a better shot if he wanted to and probably should have.

It's good for a striker to be a bit greedy... something Benz isn't enough imo.

I did love that CR7 was the recipient of that kind of play for once since he's the one who does it at least 2-3 times every freakin game

I think the most important thing is developing a natural rhythm to the way we play. Ironically, I think Bale has been better than anyone else at this. Most times, he shoots when he's supposed to and gives it up when he's supposed to.

Benz has a very unique problem, he doesn't take shots ,most probably because he don't think he'll make them. But when he has the ball in and around the area, he should look for his own shot instinctively, something I don't think he does. In a rough estimation, RVP is the best I've seen at taking shots he can take. I rarely see him force shots, but he still racks up his fair share.

The way we play, he gets very little in his comfort zone either. It's mind boggling that he don't get a pass when he has his defender pinned with his back to goal on the edge of the box. The amount of things he can do from that position, I would really love to have a chat with Modric and everyone else to find out why that pass never happens. Every now and again we do it, and someone scores or gets a damn good chance, but we generally prefer to get the ball out to the wings,

And though he seems to be improving in the box, he ain't anything special there. Does far too much waiting on the ball, so he'll almost never turn a half chance into a goal.

This thread has 480 posts, the one on the other forum has about 1000, mine in the RM section has about 1000. At some point, you just get tired of talking about one guy.

everybody in attack shined without CR. Bale did his thing in 1st half and dominated his wing, and in second half jese and benzema carried on. It's crazy what happens when players share the possession and play to the open man, crazy

in his defense, I think he is just generally a moron, club affiliation doesn't necessarily play a part in it.

Benzema shines with or without Ronaldo. It's the amount of times he shines that always seems to be story of his life at Real Madrid. I reckon Chad would tell you how much times, he seems to be have vast knowledge about that billy goat.

Speaking of which, Real Madrid is in an interesting position with Ronaldo. Unlike Nick wonderfully formed sarcasm, Cristiano is NOT detrimental to Real Madrid. He does, however, pose one of the most bizarre tactical conundrums I have seen.

For all his attacking brilliance, he is not the smartest player (duh) and he shoe horns the side into being a bit predictable. But at the same time, he scores goals, lots of them. I know we are now all on that statistics stuff but 20 shots and 2 goals would always read "he scored 2 goals" and as much as I would like it to be different, Ronaldo is a far superior forward to anything we have (including the French Billy Goat). But as seen today (and other times when CR isn't around) the team plays with more "freedom", so to speak.

With the emergence of Jese and the surprising intelligence of Bale, if ever there were a time I would say sell Ronaldo, it would be now. We would lose a lot but we also gain quite a bit. Thus putting RM in an interesting position as I'm pretty certain, Carlo, Perez and all those backroom staff peeps see what we all are seeing.

Back to Benzema, he had a fine match today but as always, when I really need him to show his form, I generally don't see this sort of performance.
