Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Tomas Rosicky is also a doubt for the derby meeting?
On twitter not sure if any truth to it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Arsène Wenger has revealed the following fitness updates ahead of the Tottenham game:
on the left backs…
Kieran Gibbs has a test tomorrow but I am hopeful that Nacho Monreal will be fit. They both have a good chance.
on Mesut Ozil's injury at Bayern...
He is out. I don’t know for how long but it is a hamstring injury. There are scans going on.
on Ramsey...
We have had to defer his comeback to full training a little so he is not available. He is having difficulties in the final stages of his rehab. It looks to be short-term.
on Kim Kallstrom and Yaya Sanogo...
Kallstrom joins the normal training group today and Sanogo too. I will have to decide if Kallstrom is OK to be in the squad on Sunday. I will see how he looks, it is not impossible.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Yeah, BBC also saying around four weeks. Rules him out of Spurs, Chelsea, Swansea, City and Everton, and possibly the FA Cup semis as well. What a run of games to miss...
Ramsey hasn't suffered a setback. Wenger's words were "we're having difficulties bringing him back to full training".

believe it or not, putting Cazorla in his natural position, Gnarby on the right and leaving Podolski on the left... i actually like the combination of profiles better. I hate these multiple AMs playing out of position setups.

We have a small squad and on average 8 players out injured...He can't rotate. The problems are a lot deeper than that.urbaNRoots wrote:We have a big squad for once but Wenger still doesn't rotate because it goes against his philosophy. He believes in continuity and that doesn't allow him to rotate heavily in "easier" fixtures.
It's one his flaws imo, I made a thread about this earlier in the season when we were overplaying Ramsey... no surprise he's been out injured since that.

There is no point on relying on Ramsey when he hasn't kicked a ball in months. Let him recover at his own pace instead of pushing him too hard. Even when he comes back he will take him time to get back into good form.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Why is Arsenal's player injury situation so bad? There's ATLEAST a half a dozen of players injured most of the time. Is it because of lack of rotation, training methods and/or physiotherapy department? This is a high-priority, serious issue that needs to be addressed imo.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Something wrong with the training. I used to think it was some uncanny shit or just bad luck but this is ridiculous for about 6 years or so now.
We keep rushing players who are not fully fit, and we keep over playing players who are running on nothing.
Ramsey was playing 90 minutes non stop and of course he was going to suffer for it. He came back from that injury and somehow got a worse one in training.
Blame has to come down to physios/Arsene/Training

Nope it's a myth that we have a small squad. We have a like per like replacement for everyone except Giroud and Mertesacker in our squad and none of those two got injured for too much this season.
Who's to say Wilshere couldn't replace Ramsey against some of the weaker teams? Or Monreal replacing Gibbs at times when Gibbs WASN'T injured? Jenkinson could replace Sagna at times aswell. Or Vermaelen replacing Koscielny? Podolski replacing Cazorla?
Of course there are other problems who contribute to our injury list but the lack of rotation is one of those big problems too, in my opinion.

Re: The Arsenal Injury Thread
Wenger said in today's press conference that he'll be reviewing the training and medical practices in light of our severe injury list. Fingers crossed that leads to some changes.
Some injuries are just bad luck. Ozil has been playing a lot but we did give him a break and rest, yet he still managed to do his hamstring just two minutes into a game. Wilshere coming out of a 50-50 with Agger on international duty and suffering a fracture in his foot is plain unfortunate. The leg breaks suffered by Diaby, Eduardo, Ramsey and Sagna as well. The ligament damage to Chamberlain at the start of the season too.
Others, though, are the result of poor rotation, subsequent overplaying of players and probably the training/recovery methods used by the club. Ramsey, for example, had been playing way too much and inevitably injured his thigh. When he first recovered, we rushed him back into full training and ended up aggravating the injury and keeping him out a further six weeks - had we taken a bit more care, he might have been back in the squad by now. You can understand wanting to get him back as quickly as possible, but we had Wilshere, Arteta, Flamini and Rosicky who could have been used in the mean time.
It happened with Wilshere a couple of seasons ago, too. When he was recovering from his ankle surgery, we pushed him too hard in training and he ended up breaking down again and being out for longer. Going back further, in 2009/10 we rushed Cesc back from a hamstring injury against Villa, he went on and won us the game, but in the process made the injury worse. Walcott's recent ACL is another. It was clear in that Spurs game that Walcott needed to be taken off, as he was getting a few knocks and had played a lot recently. The game was won at 2-0. We kept him on though and he did his ACL.
It's a miracle that the likes of Mertesacker and Giroud haven't picked up any major injuries this year with the amount of games they've both played.
That Dutch guy mentioned that Arsenal are training their players "like Marines" and not building up long-term fitness. I'm not an expert, but there seems to be some truth there as it would explain why we're usually strong between September and December (the first three to four months of the season), but always look a bit tired during the winter months. So perhaps we need to change our approach to pre-season, as well as change the way we handle player recovery and how we rotate players.

From 11 to 6 is something but considering that the names we got back were Sanogo, Bendtner, Kallstrom and Monreal, those are probably the least important 4 in comparison to the 5 that remain injured (not counting Diaby)

Mertesacker on Özil's fitness: "I cannot say any different because I suffered the same problem in my first year [lack of winter break]. And I suffered, as well, a big injury nearly the same time so I know how hard it is to adapt and settle down completely."

Headline in tomorrow's[today now] France Football magazine interview with #AFC's forgotten man Abou Diaby: 'I'll never give up'
Diaby working like mad to get back. Training at altitude in French Alps this week. Back at #AFC April 1. Desperate to play this season (FF)
Diaby: 'Ive never given up hope of going to World Cup. Thinking of that has kept me going. Once Im back on pitch, everything's possible (FF)
Athletics trainer working with Diaby says '9/10 players would've given up. People who say Diaby is fragile are wrong. He is Highlander' (FF)
he feels indebted to Arsenal, who have stood by him, and he'd love to help them with the Cup
aims to be back in full training mid april, but Arsenal will assess him on april 1
