Arsenal Vs Southampton [COC QF]
Arsenal Vs Southampton
30th November 19:45BST
Emirates Stadium
Don't really like playing Southampton but let's hope they rest their main players like us. Not really bothered if we win or not. Just hoping that the fringe players impress and do their best.
Potential team
-------------------Martinez-----------------------------
Niles--------Gabriel---------Holding-------------Gibbs
----------------Coquelin-----Xhaka---------------------
Jeff---------------------Ramsey------------------Iwobi
--------------------Lucas--------------------------------

Re: Arsenal Vs Southampton [COC QF]
I take that as a positive sign that Xhaka will start at West Ham on Saturday and that Coquelin and Elneny are effectively auditioning to be his partner.
I'm more worried about our attack tbh. Ramsey with a broken toe and a Lucas just back from injury could struggle tonight.

Southampton have put out a really strong squad, could be a tough night for us. If we were not at home I would not have cared if we got knocked out.

Nah, more like we will end up seeing a lot more of this Coqneny stuff because AW wants them to develop their partnershipJay29 wrote:I take that as a positive sign that Xhaka will start at West Ham on Saturday and that Coquelin and Elneny are effectively auditioning to be his partner.

Re: Arsenal Vs Southampton [COC QF]
Why does Gabriel play RCB and Holding as LCB? I thought they usually played on opp sides respectively

Re: Arsenal Vs Southampton [COC QF]
Atrocious stuff out there. That second goal Couldn't play forward so went backward, Southampton pushed up and boxed us in without any real effort and Jenkinson was just way too willing to give it away.
Our build-up just sucks. Players always moving away from the ball, front four disconnected from the midfield two and all over the place. Just stick a screen of five between our pivot and attack and you'll stop us playing.

Xhaka will improve things thankfully. Coquelin-ElNeny has never worked.

Re: Arsenal Vs Southampton [COC QF]
The movement in the attack third sucks as well. Jenkinson gets the ball on the right but ends up isolated with no support because everyone is just standing in the centre of the pitch. So Jenkinson always has to go sideways or backwards. Iwobi or Jeff comes narrow but everyone is in the middle and no one is intelligent enough to find the space out wide. Always looking for the fancy combinations instead of trying to pull Southampton out of shape.
And is it just me who noticed Lucas having this annoying tendency to always lay the ball off with his first touch?

Re: Arsenal Vs Southampton [COC QF]
Attack is extremely disjointed. Iwobi looks good though
