"Fss" (uncut version: "fssssssss") symbolises the sound of a silent fart that I let rip unintentionally whenever I stumble across something humorous that hits my sides. The essential benefit is that this opens up the possibility for me to combine "fss" with "my sides" in a logical sense. Like this: "My sides, fss."

I'm glad you asked and whenever you read "fss" again it won't bother you anymore because there is a clear image in your head now about its meaning. (:

On a serious note, I never read "ffs" as "for f's sake". I genuinenly read it as "fsss". Thinking about it for more than 3 seconds I realize that in English the more precise version would actually be "pffffft" but in German it's "fssss" IMO. hmm

Having said. I'll stick with the fart explanation from now on. I haven't pulled that out of my ass for nothing now, fss.
