It was a penalty .. why? because it was a moving tackle .. the beginning of the tackle started before the penalty box .. but the tackle kept going and messi was on until he fell after he passed the penalty box .. if you say its not a penalty .. then you are not educated enough with the football rules.

Re: Man City 0-2 Barcelona
I've never seen worse LB performances from any side (Buttner aside). Both of them were rubbish both going forward as well as defending.
Typical example of wingbacks who've relied solely on their pace to get out of trouble or catch up to clear the mistakes for too long.

Re: Man City 0-2 Barcelona
Can't blame the ref for that penalty call, could go either way. It's quick play since Navas lost his ball out of nowhere, he saw it from awkward angle and from quite a distance.
Still if Pelle was more advantageous with his approach, it would be more interesting game or at least harder for Barca players. The way I've seen it, penalty or not, Barca hardly got into their last gear and won comfortably.

If that statement is how it is than the commentators are clueless too, they said its the contact that counts....

now that's a realistic opinion something I respect

Not a penalty, when looking at the picture.
but 99 of 100 refs would give it an easy penalty, based on the angle and how quick the play went.

Think it would be more entertaining painting the wall of Berlin and watching it dry.
It was a terrible game to watch

Re: Man City 0-2 Barcelona
It was a deserved win. Please stop complaining about referees.Barca although not quite at their best were quite clearly the superior team.
City produced nothing today as compared to their standards they set in the league. It was a flop show from them in my opinion.

Re: Man City 0-2 Barcelona
I expected a lot more box to box and City opening up a bit more, but City choose their time to park the bus very well. When they came out and attacked us you can see they are very very very very dangerous, great attacking play.. But you can also see when they lose that midfield battle, they pushed up so high that our forwards have way too much space for them to contain. so i can understand Pell for parking it at times.. Still, playing open against us is suicidal for any team in the world, even bayern, real madrid. you need to attack us, press us, win the midfield battle.

Re: Man City 0-2 Barcelona
Agreed as it was an abominable game to watch.
I respect Tata and his more tactical approach yet there's a reason as to why I avoid Barcelona games and that is because it has lost all that made them worth watching.
It did not help City's lack of game-plan and response to a possession happy Barcelona made it eerily similar to Levante-Barcelona.
And of course, the fact that the Emptihad Stadium even in a European night drains away all the rendered European magic that is staged in Champions League nights. Even if the fans are bored with the possession, there is no excuse to commence chanting only when convenient.

Re: Man City 0-2 Barcelona
Red card changed the game. Defensively Man City were ok, but counter-attacking wise they didn't really trouble Barca too much. I was expecting Man City to press more inside their own half restricing Barca to the halfway line and then countering with pace. Aguero will definitely help for the 2nd leg.
