Yesterday was the exact reason why Gerrard isn't a top top player. One set back and he completely lost his head. He's the sitting midfielder yet he had more shots than Suarez/Sturridge/ coutinho/ sterling combined.
Gerard has been an unreal team player this season, he and counting I playing the side rule plasters for the pace and guild of the other attacking trio has been he basis of heir success this year. No Hollywood balls. No ridiculous 30 yard strikes. He's actually averaging 1.5 shots per game:
Yesterday he had 7 in the second half alone.
A cool head was needed, but he saw the headlines of redemption and went for personal glory IMO.
A scholes wouldn't have don't that, keane never done that. Xavi, iniesta, kaka, pirlo, fellani wouldn't have done that.

There was no other way for Liverpool to get through Chelsea's defense. Taking long shots is actually a good idea against a parked bus and Gerrard's good at them.

you probe, move the ball around, commit defenders. long range shots are what jose would have loved.
This wasnt even a great chelsea side.. 9 or something first teamers werent involved.
