I think in theory, Love upon being traded to the Cavs could sign a new (they have money for the max?) deal.

But what advantage would he have to do that? Knowing Lebron might not stay.

If LeBron doesn't stay he should be tar and feathered and chased out of the NBA imo.

But that 2 year deal with 1 year opt out tells me, if it goes Lakers-Howard wrong he might consider bolting.

Lebron is not leaving.  The max salary gets raised or lowered with the salary cap number each season.  Since the US is coming out of a recession into a recovery, league revenue is expected to go up significantly.  Lebron wants to get the absolute max amount every year.  If you sign a multi-year deal, you're locked into the max amount for that season + the CBA mandated annual bumps ( i think it's 7,5% per season).  It also keeps the Cavs' management on its toes...  they need to make sure that they do everything to win.  Very smart by Lebron.

Just as a comparison, Michael Jordan played his last 8 years in the NBA on 1 year contracts.

Yes FOX is expected to try to get the rights from ESPN/ABC which is gonna drive up revenue. But I still don't know why there's an opt out after 2015

Emmanuel Mudiay, possible #1 overall in next years draft, is going to play in Europe instead of playing a year of college. He was going to play for SMU and Larry Brown. I hope he does better than Jennings did over there.

The year by year money isnt so bad, but 5 years? He isnt a max player now, but he certainly wont be one in 3 years from now.
