Well, BMG could have easily scored 3 or 4 or so - the strikers simply forgot to take their drink of target water ^^

BMG didn't visit Stuttgart. It was the other way round. But then, Stuttgart has been BMG's "bestia negra" for a while now...

I know it's only Copenhagen, but boy do Leverkusen look good. That pressing revamp really did them all kinds of good.

Well, they  ran over Dortmund, too. I guess in the CL groups no one will fancy getting Leverkusen this season. ^^

Glad they're doing well, if they did bad it would have made me look foolish considering I hyped them a fair bit. :coffee:

Will make an appreciation thread after the game. Don't want the GL jinx.

Lol, he looks a bit out of place in such an intense pressing side. Seeing a big slow target man pressing, is a bit unusual. But he's been rocking so far.

If Klopp likes heavy metal, I wonder what Schmidt likes hmm

Well Kießling isn't that slow and tactically inept, though, he's not like Gomez or Torres, but mostly I like him because he tries to stay on his feet when he gets kicked.

Agent Pep at it again, now instead of scrubs he's signed a has-been dud.
Bayern will be supremely entertaining to watch crumble.

FC Espana München, I can't believe how hard I'm laughing at this.

On the plus side, I love seeing Alonso play, love his style, and his beard, so it's all fine. But oh boy is this a retarded signing for Bayern.

it's a surreal signing, but why exactly do you think it's retarded viva?

I don't know what to think, but what is clear is that it's not a signing for the future lol, but for the immediate present.
And right now Javi, Schweinsteiger and Thiago are out.
Javi long term, Schweini possibly long term, and I wouldn't bank on Thiago staying healthy either right now.

Gaudino played on Friday, he was great, but would be comfortable with him at 17 carrying responsibility in the CL, since he's physically not very strong yet?
Höjbjerg similiarly..

I'm confused, but I kind of like it I have to say. It's not like Alonso is not still a classy player hmm

It's a good short-term signing and makes sense now, and while Xabi is past it, a past it Xabi is still better than most mids in their prime, so it's not that they signed a bad player.

I just think it's hilarious that Bayern have this problem after selling Gustavo for no reason, not keeping tabs on Wollscheid, and letting go of Can.

So I'm more amused by the events that lead up to the signing, than the signing itself. The signing itself makes a moderate amount of sense, and I think Xabi actually fits Bayerns system, because unlike Thiago, he does work for the defense quite a lot.

yeah well but then it's not really retarded is it. Since it is a signing that is caused by very recent events (Javi and Schweini out).
We can arge about all that, gustavo leaving doesn't really bother me that much as it obviously does you.
He was solid for us but he already fell behind Javi under Jupp and then wanted to play more the year before the WC. So we didn't sell him for 'no reason' but because he wanted out seeing that Pep saw him as 3rd/4th/5th choice.

I know this boils down to you thinking the dissolving of the double pivot is a terrible idea. But for me, while I was sceptical at first, I'm very happy how it worked and the way we played, looking at the whole of last season.
And of course you think getting Thiago was the worst of the worst, we'll just have to agree to disagree there as I'm actually very happy with having Thiago and also with how he performed already.
His injury proneness is of course a huge problem, but if you don't rate him anyway that can't really factor in your arguing?
If we want to talk about reason and blame for our break-in in spring we can do that, but I don't buy solely blaming Pep's system. As if had we only kept Jupp's refined van Gaal 4-2-3-1 we had won everything for eternity. It was one year, that we played with extra determination after the Chelsea loss, not really an era that is now destroyed lol.
And how people cannot see how good our last season was, and how well Pep did... I can understand
people who only tuned in in March for the latter CL stages, but following the Bundesliga?

As for Can, would you, were you a Bayern fan, feel good right now of we had Gaudino, Höjbjerg, AND Can?
Can was decent but he didn't exactly played like someone you can't afford to lose.

So I'm not crying at all over losing Gustavo and Can, not even a little bit.
Also we added Rode who looks like a good ball winner himself.

What I'm crying about is not keeping Kroos, but that's not at all 'Agent Pep's' *bleep* up, but the boards, and also who knows how much Kroos actually wanted to stay and how much money he demanded.
All the information we have is that Pep wanted Kroos to stay, he played him constantly too.

And in the end, I feel good about having Alonso in the team right now.
Don't really see a downside here.
I like him a lot, he's old and close to past it but I don't see why he can't be very valuable in our current situation.

Also I think it's interesting as I'm still curious to how we will play, and the Alonso signing suggests to me Pep wants to keep/reinforce a direct, long ball element.

I can't deny I feel better about our squad today than yesterday, wouldn't you agree?

I have to side with Hans on this one, it's a sensible signing which given significant injury issues ensures that Bayern have a highly experienced, tactically suitable midfielder who will not stand in the way of Guadino and Hojberg in the future but instead allow them to be slowly blooded. Whilst talented, it's important that they are not subjected to a heavy workload at such a young age which can often lead to issues later on.

As for the issues that has led to Bayern's midfield requiring such reinforcement, there is no point crying over spilled milk at this stage. It strengthens the team for the upcoming season, so regardless of whether there were better ways to manage the market overall, in the closing days of the transfer window it's an excellent move.

Well, supposedly Bayern will pay Real 10 mio for Xabi Alonso, so that's not half bad for a short-term replacement. It's impressive again how fast the deal was concluded, btw.

I agree with that, and that's why I'm not making fun of Xabi or anything, but there has to be a certain point of criticism aimed at Bayerns transfer policies ever since Peps signings.

In all honesty, the signings have puzzled me, however each has addressed a need and the players deserve a chance to prove themselves before judgement is passed.

I get that viva, I don't want to disqualify your criticism of Pep, but I don't agree with it.
Also I feel that the record doesn't support it nearly as much as you claim, but mostly I hope future results and performance will prove you wrong..

It does help that I want to see Bayern fail (domestically) anyway.

sure lol, but then let's keep reality and fantasy apart.
Because winning the league in record time is not failing domestically.

So it seems to me you're mad Pep is doing so well domestically, and you try to get paradoxically both gratification and reinforcement of your stance of resentment out of our 'failure' in the CL, as there you're torn :coffee:
