Sevilla look unstoppable. I have money on them to retain. I think they'll give Wolfsburg a spanking if they were to meet.

no they wont, knowing that Sevilla are fomer Champions, they will play like underdorgs and Hecking will make sure that they get the result. Hecking gets his tactics right in such games

Re: Europa League 2014-15 - Pt.1
Sevilla vs Zenit
Dnipro vs Club Brugge
Dynamo Kyiv vs Fiorentina
Wolfsburg vs Napoli
Winner of Wolfsburg vs Napoli will probably go on to win the whole thing, I feel.
Also, I think it's great that there'll be a Ukrainian team (that's not Kyiv or Shakhtar) or a Belgian team in the semi-final

He won 4:1 against Bayern a few weeks ago. Beat this at Bayern's current form.

Expect Fiorentina to get by Dynamo Kiev.....not sure about Napoli getting by Wolfsburg though as they are my pick to win this cup. It all depends on what happens in Germany. If Napoli can come away from that match with an away goal without getting smashed like Inter, I like their chances at the San Paolo, which can be an absolute cauldron.

Wolfsburg never have won any kind of cup in their whole history, so I'm a bit puzzled why they would be the "pick" of so many people.
They are good this season, but you know.
Same goes for Hecking. Good manager, but until further notice Benitez is still a very different calibre.

Wolfsburg weren't that good as much as Inter were shit in the game, I except Napoli to win even if they pass Napoli I expect the Spanish team to destroy them.

Well, maybe no cup, but they did win the BUndesliga. And one has to start somewhere winning cups. ^^Hapless_Hans wrote:Wolfsburg never have won any kind of cup in their whole history, so I'm a bit puzzled why they would be the "pick" of so many people.
Again - like a club, a manager has to start winning something somewhere, too. So why not this EL?Hapless_Hans wrote:Same goes for Hecking. Good manager, but until further notice Benitez is still a very different calibre.

RWO I'm not saying they won't or can't win this EL (even if I don't think they'll even get past Napoli).
But I would suggest that you usually have to work your way there, sometimes over several seasons. Quarters is a good start.

I wouldn't overrate Napoli anyway , they had easy matches so far and they were knocked out from Porto last year
Wolfsburg hasn't an amazing CF as Higuain ( Dost ffs deleted by Ranocchia in both matches. Unlucky we had Juan Jesus..) but it's better in defence and midifled
I think it will be a match very balanced

Re: Europa League 2014-15 - Pt.1
one question...
if all three of Dnipro, Kiev and Zenit get through....they won't even do the Semi draw and pair up the Ukrainian side and have Zenit play the winner of Wolfsburg vs. Napoli ??? that'd be mad.
a Ukrainian vs. Russia final in Warsaw would be boss though

Let's hope it doesn't come to that. I'm sure quite a few people would die.

The calcio fan in me wants Napoli to win the whole thing, but the football purist in me says Wolfsburg are simply better. There's a first time for everything and fortune tends to favor the bold.
All aboard the bandwagon that just happens to be made by V-dub.

Because Woflsburg are a team that has 2nd place in the bundesliga on a lock and humiliated Bayern like few have in recent years. Meanwhile, Inter has not won 4 straight games in a row since 2010.
I expect them to go through btw, Napoli's defense and GK are terrible. But maybe Benitez can pull a rabbit out of this hat.

Re: Europa League 2014-15 - Pt.1
I dont think Wolfsburg as a team on paper are better than Napoli. May be Wolfsburg have better balance as a team compared to Napoli.
The problem with Wolfsburg is, if you slow down the pace of the game and dont allow them to play their quick passing to take the number advantage, they suffer because sometimes they just cant controll the game, that is where Benitez can strike and I think it will be tough game which you simply cant call.

Besides Napoli also is nothing in Europe for history , an only final and won ( Uefa Cup 1989 ) because there was Diego Armando Maradona...after this they were again insignificant. so about it , they are basically same thing
Just Benitez could be a different factor
