He should just play the games and hope someone puts in a good bid for him imo. Not sure why he would refuse.

exactly MT this poor attitude approach isn't exactly enticing teams to come for him...just makes them question character of the player when things don't go his way

Yeah, he should take an example in Robert Lewandowski, who still gave his all for Dortmund when they blocked his move the year before his contract ended. Model pro!

Liverpool may target former Chelsea striker Samuel Eto'o as they search for replacement for departed Luis Suárez
Samuel Eto'o an option for Brendan Rodgers as Jürgen Klopp claims Liverpool manager can benefit from the departure of Luis Suárez
By Chris Bascombe
10:30PM BST 11 Aug 2014
Liverpool’s pursuit of a new striker has prompted Brendan Rodgers to consider a short-term deal for Samuel Eto’o.
The 33-year-old Cameroon striker was released by Chelsea at the end of last season and is currently a free agent.
Ajax are in talks with the former Barcelona and Inter Milan forward, but Rodgers has a pressing need for more firepower and there have been discussions about the merits of a deal for the African.
Liverpool have more expensive and younger targets, but price, availability - and in the case of the recent aborted deal for Loïc Rémy, fitness - have scuppered Rodgers’ plans so far to sign a direct replacement for Luis Suárez.
Not everyone at Anfield will be convinced recruiting Eto’o at this stage of his career is the ideal solution, but in the absence of obvious alternatives it may prove a necessity to ensure Liverpool do not go into a new season with only Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert to choose from.
Eto’o spent last season at Stamford Bridge but it was not a happy reunion with his former Inter manager Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho made a reference to the African’s age, and did not hide his feelings throughout the season about what he felt was a poor return from all his strikers.
Eto’o scored nine times at Stamford Bridge before being released, although if Liverpool are to move they will have to do so quickly with Ajax confirming advanced talks.
Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars says Eto’ is close to moving to Dutch football.
“Samuel seemed very hungry to play for Ajax,” said Overmars. “He is fit and has a great drive to succeed once again.
“We don’t want to block the growing process of our talents but if it is possible to sign a world class player like Eto’o, then why not? It will be fantastic.”
Despite the loss of Suárez and Rodgers’ difficulties in replacing him, Liverpool have been backed to continue their impressive form of last season by Jürgen Klopp, the Borussia Dortmund manager.
Klopp, who remains one of the most sought-after coaches in Europe, can relate to the difficulties in readjusting following the sale of a prized asset. Dortmund have become accustomed to seeing their best players lured away, Bayern Munich waving the chequebook in recent years to attract the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Mario Götze.
Klopp has been able to protect Dortmund’s Champions League credentials during that period and his two Bundesliga titles challenged the dominance of Bayern for a long period.
Having lost 4-0 to Rodgers’s team in Sunday’s friendly at Anfield, he sees no reason why Liverpool cannot evolve and continue to compete against the more heavily fancied Premier League sides.
“It’s a great club and they did well last year - I saw it,” Klopp said. “If you make the right decisions after you miss [the title] you can be stronger. Maybe Liverpool this year is the big team in the Premier League. We will see.
“At the moment it seems to be no problem [without Suárez]. They have a plan maybe, but I don’t know. We can play better than we did on Sunday, and Liverpool can play better too. This was not the ideal time to face Liverpool.”
Rodgers has often described Dortmund as a prototype club for Liverpool, developing talent rather than hunting for the most expensive, highest-earning superstars, like Bayern Munich do in German football, or Chelsea and Manchester City in England.
“He is an inspirational figure,” Rodgers said. “What his team have done over the last number of seasons has been nothing short of incredible.”
Klopp was happy to accept there may be certain similarities between his and the Liverpool manager’s approach.
“With the way he has developed the team? Yes, maybe a little bit,” Klopp said. “He’s a good manager. We did what we did. When we started we tried to create football moments that will hopefully be more successful than the past.
“We didn’t think about what happened in the past, just how we can develop the team. That’s what we did at the time.”
Liverpool’s similarity with Dortmund also comes with words of caution from Rodgers, however. The German side’s domestic form suffered when they enjoyed their run to the Champions League final two years ago, and Rodgers is wary of the impact of a hectic schedule this year as his team – if not the club – enter new territory.
“Champions League brings extra reward but also extra burden,” said Rodgers, who hopes to complete the signing of left-back Alberto Moreno from Seville this week.
“Fighting on multiple fronts is something our rivals are used to and well prepared for. Our challenge is to remain competitive at the top end of the table domestically while also mounting a European campaign worthy of a club of our stature.”
Liverpool’s £20 million signing, Lazar Markovic, is struggling to be fit for the season opener with Southampton due to a slight tendon injury.

FFS all these top coaches who make millions doing their job somehow go after targets that 99% of the football world agree are stupid. And so, so often they flop and the coach is left scratching his head.

Napol has treated so many midfielders so far , all so different, Gonalons -- Fellaini -- Lucas Leiva --- De Guzman etc
they don't seem to have clear ideas about it

Their back-up target to Assaidi, no doubt. Assaidi's going to sink the move due to wage demands, isn't he?Yohan Modric wrote:Stoke have made a new £5m bid for Norwich's Redmond, according to the Telegraph.
Or the media are simply making up stories linking Napoli with CM/CDMs, because they know people will believe it all without a second thought.Robespierre wrote:Napol has treated so many midfielders so far , all so different, Gonalons -- Fellaini -- Lucas Leiva --- De Guzman etc

Not exactly.
About the fact that Napoli was before on Gonalons and then on Fellaini is all confirmed by Aulas and Benitez.
On De Guzman, besides, there are also photos..

Sky simply regurgitate stories from other sources, so that's hardly a reliable means of getting news.
Oh look, the flavour of the month reporter who's no more accurate than any other but gets a lot of retweets on twitter... I guess I can't argue with that (because even when I point out the facts people ignore them).S wrote:RedOranje wrote:Or the media are simply making up stories linking Napoli with CM/CDMs, because they know people will believe it all without a second thought.

Maybe yes ....but anyway Di Marzio is reliable..
Anyway it is not this the point. Rafael Benitez confirmed to words (not me ) they want Fellaini but it depends on Manchester United, if they accept the offer
about Gonalons, the first target, there were confirms of all the parts , but Aulas broke the bank at the end
so to be fair I don't have understood much about their market so far, while it was enough linear and coherent last year building the team for 4231 guessing the signings as Callejon and Mertens , now 2 wingers capable to be difference maker in Serie A
maybe if De Laurentis would have tried to take Mascherano before of WC there were not these problems, Benitez asked it as done to Inter in 2010 , but both the times the club didn't want to satisfy.
For De Laurentiis he is old and so it was useless to take him , I remind his interview to Sky in May when the journalists asked about Mascherano .. yes he will be also old but the would have represented an incredible upgrade to Napoli

At the same time I sympathize a bit for Schneiderlin. He's been with Soton for 6 years, gave his all and helped them back into the PL. The club lets half the team go without a problem and reports stated (as well as Schneiderlins reactions) that they were ready to accept a bid from Tottenham for him when the club did a U-turn and decided not to sell him. Not to mention now he's stuck in a sinking ship of a team that sold all of the more outstanding players except for him and an injured Jay Rodriguez.
I can disagree with his reactions regardless, but I also understand why Schneiderlin would be pissed.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.VIII
Idk. I tend to stick with the club on these contract fights. I don't think players should be let go any time they throw a fit. Like hey, why sign a long ass contract if your not gonna want to respect it the moment shit hits the fan? Here in the states players respect there contracts in the sports here. Hell, teams will just bench your ass if your don't want to play most of the time. Teams know who's working for who.
Do I understand why he wants to leave? Yes I do. But do I think they should sell him cause he's throwing a fit and wants out? No. I would make an example out of him. Life is tough. Deal with it. Suck it up

Re: 2014 Summer Transfers Rumours Mk.VIII
That Eto'o link is interesting. Prefer it to signing Bony for 100k/week....
Eto'o also is a nasty twat, and we need one in our team after Suarez leaving. I think he is already rich enough, and won't ask for stupid money and will be motivated to prove Mou wrong.
CL experience as well, decent stop-gap...considering it's obvious we'll play a 1 striker formation this season.

I'm not saying I agree with him ("disagree with his actions regardless"- me), but I do have some sympathy. If the club wants to keep him, he should suck it up...but at the same time, it's very fair and perhaps light to say that he's gotten the short end of the stick compared to his team mates. I can understand why he's upset.
