Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
anyone watching Sense8? Going to start it soon. better be half decent......
Also anyone watching Wentworth? Aussie female prison show on Netflix...... A darker version of OITNB, people who like OITNB would like it IMO. Im up to season 2 atm and its really enjoyable.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
None of these new Netflix shows interest me in the least bit honestly...the premises are all super pretentious (always the MO of the Wachowskis anyway).
Season 2 of Power started over this weekend. If you haven't checked that out, I recommend it. I liked the first season quite a bit.
I keep hearing more and more about Wayward Pines. So many different people have recommended that to me that I'm compelled to at least given the pilot a go.

Finished season 1 of Almighty Johnsons
Was really good. Some nice laughs and interesting story. Ty and Hel
Norse mythology is quite accurate as well.

It went downhill prettyyyyy fast from season 2
Just about watched all of it.
But season 3 was absolute trash. Skipped half of it.
Shame since it had so much potential.

What's the appeal in watching OITNB? Honestly, I tried watching it a couple of times but I just can't get into it at all. The main character isn't interesting. The rest of the characters aren't interesting.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
The show really doesn't have a main character anymore....that's what appeals to me the most. Always fascinating to dig into the backstory of these characters. Girlfriend and I started it last night and watched a few episodes. 3rd season is good so far.

Yeah also gone through the first few episodes.
McEggz, I actually think it is the characters indeed which is the biggest appeal in OITNB. Good depth, with a touch of comedy and drama that doesn't fail.

Still looking for a HIMYM replacement.
I rarely ever like a sitcom/comedy and all the new ones look awful.
Might give Brooklyn Nine-Nine a go

Tried watching OITNB once, turned it off after about 15 mins lol. Looked like one of them jobber comedy shows with no dark story or suspense.

Honestly, what is the genre of that show anyways? Is it a comedy?

I already did, it's really funny IMO. It's nothing like HIMYM though, it's a comedy that is mainly about mishaps and relationships in the workplace like Office.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Same as RG, was looking for some comedy in my TV show list but not finding anything interesting enough in the current shows.
So I decided to go way back and started watching Prince of Bel Air and King of Queens, still funny as *bleep*.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
I am watching Penny Dreadfull.
There i said it.
I got in solely because of Eva Green , but stayed because it turned out to be good . And in any case , Eva Green .
There are characters in the show like Dorian Grey , Frankenstein and his creature ... witches , vampires , black magics , demons and the devil , this sort of penny dreadful.. there's even a former James Bond .
Also , Eva Green .
anybody else watching it?? You would be surprised really , it's quite good.

Re: The TV Series Thread - Part 3
Penny Dreadful is quite good honestly. Really liking this 2nd season so far.
I've began watching the Strain.....don't understand the hype it got so far. All I see is Mimic meets Blade 2 with a bit of 28 Weeks later sprinkled in for good measure.
I get the appeal though with Del Toro creating the source material, but it's not particularly original.
I am something of a William H. Macy fan so I think I want to start Shameless next. Hear such good things about that show. A real sleeper hit from the sounds of it.
