Liverpool and Basil are not scrubs... they may not be elite; but they are at the same level as the Sevilla, Valencia and Villareal's of the world. Ludogretz was not an easy team either tbh. In la liga however, after Villareal who is 6th, the teams are all well below the teams in Madrid's CL pool.

That's the beauty of CL... and that's why teams like City and Juve have struggled so much in recent years. There's no such thing as a gimme.

I can't believe I gotta keep saying this. When jibers says ronaldo is not technical, he means that his technique isn't much compared to messi, iniesta, zidane, etc. He does NOT mean that he's comparable to bale or PEA or gomez..

Mamad is a known ronaldo hater. Benzema actually turns over the ball just as much as ronaldo. Truth is both of them are 2 of the best attackers in the world. Everytime someone criticizes either of them I honestly ask if they watch our games because between the two of them they are the best duo in football right now

I obviously didn't contest that, but if you read his post above he didn't even write that, he wrote that the same CR7 who was the best player in the world when playing as a winger and who leads La Liga's assist contributes nothing other than goals.

This is a perfect example of how assists can be misleading.

gotta agree with this most of cr assists, are pretty straight forward passes, he makes the odd insanely good cross/diagonal passes, with the amount of the ball he gets and the area he gets them its pretty easy to pick a pass, messi,iniesta and benz create assists outta nothing especially messi just how it is.

Sorry, but assist and key pass numbers are not misleading. They are what they are. Those are concrete facts, backed up by the video i just posted. I can post more if you'd like. I can't see how CR isn't a better final passer then the likes of average passers..

Nah man, I think this season they are just as good as each other.

Before, ronaldo had tunnel vision, but he's matured so much this season.

In fact I'd go as far as to say both make each other much better. Most of benzemas assists are to cr, and most of cr's assists are to benzema.

What seperates ronaldo from benz is his insane final third awareness and better athleticism.

But call me a benz fan boy if you'd like but both are two of the best players in the world.

benzema just a better passer than cr, anywhere on the pitch, sure cr started passing more this season, but that doesn't make him just as good as benz, if benzema see as much as the ball as cr, trust me his assist numbers would be unreal for a forward

CR does see the ball a bit more, but he plays wide, and gets more touches near the middle third. So it's irrelevant.

cr see way more than a bit of the ball, cr had like what 50-60 touches or more compared to benzema 20-25, you forget the times where benz just watches bale,isco,james and cr taking shots instead of feeding him?

ever since he saved our asses away to ludo in the cl, his touches increased and stayed consistent,plus bale being out, he looked much better than before, but even with the little touches he had before, he still dished out assists and scored at a decent rate

Despite every evidence to the contrary, people keep believing that Benz is a main scorer at Madrid and CR is a creator to go along with his scoring. That's just not the case... especially with Bale, Benz is the creator for both CR and Bale. His role is to make plays happen. His goalscoring is opportunistic unless one of Cr or Bale isn't playing.

You can't compare the creative ability and awareness of Benz to the other guys... i don't know how to explain it other than that some are born with the talent to see the pitch and see passing angles naturally. It doesn't always come off for him... but he sees the play.... as do Messi and Iniesta.

I'm still annoyed that Bale is being featured because of his pricetag and marketability while Benz is by far the better footballer. As i wrote on another board, i hope that Madrid go insane and sell Benz somewhere that he actually gets to show the extent of his talent as opposed to being limited at Madrid.

Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti believes Karim Benzema is a weak link in the current team and says he must be more selfish.

Speaking to El Chiringuito, the 38-year-old, who appeared in more than 500 official games for Madrid between 1994 and 2010, feels the Frenchman should get more shots in on goal to increase his goalscoring ratio.

“For me Benzema is a weakness. He began the season badly but I hope he continues to offer the quality he showed in the last games of 2014,” maintained Guti, who played alongside Benzema at the tail end of his career.

“Benzema is not a natural centre-forward but has a great understanding with Cristiano Ronaldo, yet he needs to be more selfish and score more goals.

guti knows why benzema can't be more selfish, looking at how bale and cr play, someone has to step back and try to create chances and space, i think its safe to say benzema can play pure 9 at high level if necessary
