Robespierre wrote:What do Roma fans think  about De Rossi ?

Basically yesterday Nainggolan said  implicitly they play better without him ( yes I thnk it was referred to DDR ) .
and yes , Roma turned better after his injury yesterday

It's hard to reconcile De Rossi's form with what he means to the club, but when the facts are laid bare about him.....I struggle to remember the last time he truly maintained top form and drove this side forward. I think what we're seeing is probably the true beginning of De Rossi's rather inevitable decline. There had been hints of it since as early as the 2010 World Cup, but I think the last couple of seasons have sadly confirmed it. He's just not the player he once was anymore and unlike Totti, it doesn't appear like he drunk from the same fountain of youth.

I think DDR stayed out of duty to this club and because he would not have been able to live down leaving he club after the season we had in 2012-2013. Roma, depsite its most recent form, is in far better shape than it was back then and I think DDR knows this and he knows he's no longer the influential, talismanic presence in midfield that he used to be. It's with this understanding that it would not at all surprise me to see him finally say his goodbyes and make that move to MLS, something he has openly expressed interest and intent on doing. It will a sad day for Romanisti no doubt.

Sturaro is a youngster who is touted to be the next De Rossi, in the first ten minutes he had cold feet but after that he was decent until the injury. He reminds me of Marchisio so much. He knows how to get into chance ( proven today) he has a good vision and pass but he is not used to our play style he needs time to gel.

You're comparing yourself to the wrong league. It's England that Italy could overtake, not Germany.

Consider what the UEFA coefficient looks like for only the past 4 years:

https://i.imgur.com/VmJzrvT.png

Also take into account that for the current season Italy will probably have 3 teams that make it to the next phase (Napoli, Juve and Fiorentina/Roma) whereas England only have Everton. It's especially important for Serie A that Juve go far because since 2009 the CL gets "bonus" points that the EL doesn't.

As of right now, the gap between the PL and Calcio is of 7.3 points. Let's assume that Everton don't win the EL whereas the Italian teams all go to the next round. That would put the gap closer to 6, much more manageable. If the Italian teams have a great campaign next year and the English teams have a terrible one next year, the PL could lose its spot.

It's unlikely to happen though, first because I believe that English teams flopping in Europe is temporary and second because the only good team in Italy is Juve (would any of Roma, Lazio and Napoli go far? I have my doubts). But if Italy were to take over the 3rd place, it would be stealing it from England and not Germany.

However, consider this: 2011/12 was Italy's worst year listed, with a mere 11 points. England has 15. So on 2016/17 a 4 point gap will be closed automatically. What this means is that if Italy outperforms England by 3 coefficient points over the next 2 years then it can get that spot back.

Nice , I just spotted that info on a Macedonian League vs League thread and the title of the debate was 'Bundesliga vs Serie A'

Thanks Mr. Burrito, really that was really useful info Very Happy

Yeah, what Devi basically said, he is learning IMO... In the first 10 minutes he was headless, but then he improved, probably cuz he saw the positioning of the players and how it actually works...

And yeah, tevez didn't put much of an effort. IMO, those WC players shouldn't be subbed. They should be able to play 2 games in a row despite that the second will be tough. This is why they are called world class. They need to be ready. Anyways, the team put like 40% of the effort they usually put ex. vs Roma and big games, so I guess tevez didn't waste lots of energy.

Milan need to open their eyes, get a solid coach and deal with it... It was the worst decision to let go off Allegri then Seedorf who did very well IMO. They just added more oil to the fire by getting Inzaghi... Who is next Gattuso? Nesta? Costacurta? Ambrosini? Don Bonera...?! lol really

Luca Toni, what a man. Even on 37 when he scores he is happy like its his first Serie A goal. You can see in his eyes how happy he is and how much he enjoys playing football.

Gabbiadini is amazing. Don't know why Rafa uses him so sparingly.

I am still angry we sold him to Napoli. That boy is going to be a class player.

Napoli - Lazio will be played on the 38th matchday. That has the potential to be CL-spot deciding and epic.

Juventus - Napoli will be played on the 37th matchday, but I'm assuming that by then Juve will have already won the title and won't care much about it.
