Well Glazer was a corporate raider... you know, the kind that buys a company in a hostile takeover, laces the company with heavy debt... and either the company survives the crushing pressure of the debt or he sells it for parts.

You should read "Den of Thieves" by James B. Stewart who talks about the most famous (and brilliant) of these guys when they started out in the 80s: Michael Milken. He invented junk bonds.

Bayern... legit. The only one really. But that's mainly due to the rule in Germany when a foreign entity cannot own a Bundi club. There's no incentive for any foreign brand with ambitions of ownership to invest there. Not that they need it right now... but they eventually will. It's protectionism at its worse.

It's not about foreign companies, but about companies or persons in general - they have to support a club substantively for at least 20 years, then they are allowed to get more than 50% of the shares. And protectionism - yeah, but against people who want to buy a club on a whim. They have to show they really mean it for a lengthy timespan.
