Harry Kane vs a young Rooney

Hi guys , glad to be here on the forum.

What Kane is doing this season this season is fantastic so there was something boggling me.

I didn't watch Rooney play when he was 21(only highlights) but have heard that quite a few people believe that he was remarkable at 21. So while comparing top British talents ,  this just crossed my mind.

Kane's goal scoring record is on course to be better than Rooney's at 21 when the season ends. But what about ability , technique and general play wise?


Do you guys think Kane is on par or better than what Rooney was at his age?

I would say that in overall play that Kane is not quite what Rooney was. Rooney had the talent to really become something special...better than Ronaldo at the same age. That said Kane is a very hard worker, and has a winner's mentality from what I've watched of him. He makes up for his lack of technical ability with his drive and instincts.

So to answer your question I don't think that Kane is better at the same age, but I think he could end up being the better and more complete player in the long term if he can keep up his work ethic.

Kane is nothing close to Rooney, even at the same age. They may have the same drive , desire but on technical level and overall display Rooney is something special.

El cujo I'm not sure what makes you think Kane is technically lacking - he may  not be able to make defense splitting passes from midfield like Rooney but he's a good dribbler and has good vision, not to mention his finishing is excellent. Definitely wouldn't say say he "lacks technical ability".

Sorry for being blunt but Harry Kane wouldnt even deserve to make eye contact with young Rooney.

I can only assume, judging by the responses to my post, that nobody actually read what I wrote.

The amount of praise tech players get in this forum. But I guess someones gonna have even it up here.

On topic I haven't seen Kane play but from the way the guys above me make it sound it seems he's much closer to Alan Shearer than Rooney.

I agree with that. but its a shame that a 28yo rooney is no better than a 21yo rooney.

Rooney has certainly declined, watch any games where he's around 21 and he's so much better that he is today imo.

Kane might be a better box player but Rooney had more to his game imo.
