RedOranje wrote:After the failed Balotelli gambit I suspect the club will be hesitant to go for any other forwards that are less about mobility than strength or similar. Benteke is certainly more mobile and more willing to run than Balotelli is/was but he's still far from a Sturridge-type forward. We'll see though... Aston Villa and the English media are certainly doing their utmost to get that transfer going.
Yes so it seems the media are trying their best.
Anyways from current rumors the 3 strongest rumors are of 3 free agents. . Ings (though there would be a nominal fee), Milner (on a free i love this deal) & Neto (don't know much about him). So, that might suggest a lot of the funds would directed towards a mainstream striker (we can pray).

If Trippier was a young RB coming through the ranks at Liverpool, he'd either have had the fate of Kelly by now or then that of Flanagan: gets into the team a little bit, but still running out of contract this summer.
Repeated injury troubles immediately as/after his breakthrough, leading to a stall in development and eventual exit on good terms.
Unexpected and unfortunate serious long-term injury that leads to 2 seasons out in a promising rise, but fully expected to get a new contract in the summer and continue with the club for the immediate foreseeable future?
So in effect the only thing you're really predicting with any certainty is that if Trippier has come through Liverpool's lower levels he would have suffered some type of long-term injury setback following his breakthrough three or four years ago? Interesting...

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Don't think we've been linked with Neto for weeks now, that I've seen. Opening talks with Jones over a new deal seems to suggest we've decided NOT to spend £8-15m on a new keeper and plan to stick with Mignolet as our clear number 1 and a cheap number 2 (Jones).
£30m is about the going rate in the Prem for a striker of his level and prominence, and appears to be what Villa are angling for as a fee, yea.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Do you consider him an out-an-out striker? I haven't watched him much. Few times I have seen him, he seem like a wide-player who gets into the box often. Also, his finishing leave something to be desired.RO wrote:Make sense but not fashionable enough to make the papers often: Lacazette, Aubameyang. Honestly a bit surprised at the lack of mentions of the latter so far, seems the most well-matched option for the type of role after Sturridge and Lacazette.
Are you sure, it's the wages that we stumbled upon? If so, I'm so depressed. We pay handsomely for established players (Suarez, Gerrard) and despite their recent flexibility, Arsenal is pretty calculated about wages. It must have been some marginal amount.RO wrote:Exactly how much more in wages that would have taken from what we offered though is rather difficult to guess; but chances are it would have been an eye-watering amount. Would the CL revenue have been worth it? Probably.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Most of Aubameyang's appearances for Dortmund this season have been in a central striker role, at least nominally. He shares a lot of the same traits that seem to make Sturridge and Lacazette so attractive for our striking position and for all his poor finishing he's maintained a 1-in-2 goalscoring ratio in the Bundesliga this season along with a handful of assists, despite Dortmund's struggles.
We missed out on Sanchez "because his wife wanted London." While it may very well be the case that the missus preferred the option of living in/around London rather than in Liverpool, you can be sure that some level of wage offering would convince them otherwise. Again though, the question is WHAT type of wage offer it would take; a question that we realistically lack the information needed to adequately answer.

RB: Panic.
CM: Fer.
Winger: Depay.

Risky move, imo. Branko Panić is 37 and has spent most of his career at CB, why do you think he'd be a solid RB?

Hmmmmm...I feel like I've seen this play out before. If I could guess at what was going on behind the scenes it would be:
- a deal is in place and there are just a few details to hammer out
- putting the negotiating on hold to go and look for other stuff
- other stuff doesn't pan out, but by the time we come back to the table other teams have started talking to Memphis
- he goes to another team because we think he's asking for 5 pounds too much a week, and he is insulted that he wasn't a priority
We end up with Ings, Milner and re-signing Johnson.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
He's a productive player. Probably a cheaper option than many out there. Not sure about him as an out-an-out striker though.
Why wouldn't we finalize the deal with Memphis and go for Luiz Adriano on a free anyway? That seems like the most economical option. No reason we can't offer him more than his biggest rumoured suitor (Roma) and #1 playing time. Getting Adriano and Memphis would be better than just getting a striker IMO, especially since the real top, top ones won't come here anyway.

I have been looking through Barrett's twitter and couldn't find anything regarding the fact that we have cooled our interest in Depay

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
A striker is by far our biggest priority. All the budget should go on that.
Depay will go to Man U anyways. It's the most obvious thing. Anyone who thinks we got a chance of signing him is on glue.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
LIVERPOOL FC have agreed a deal to sign young Portuguese midfielder Paulo Alves this summer.
The 17-year-old will make the move from AD Sanjoanense, who play in the third tier of football in his homeland, after the two clubs agreed a nominal transfer fee.
Alves, who is known as Paulinho, has made four starts and eight substitute appearances after breaking into Sanjoanense's first-team this season.
The teenager impressed Liverpool Academy staff during a trial earlier in the season and has been granted permission by his club to travel to Merseyside with his father to complete the contract formalities.
Alves will remain with Sanjoanense until the end of the season before linking up with the Reds in pre-season.
He's expected to start off next season at the Kirkby Academy but the hope is that he will prove his worth and make the leap to Melwood.

Just when you think it can't get any worse for Liverpool and the transfer window, the highlight of the season (Brad Jones hair) is set to leave this summer.

Ntep rumors have very solid sources, Not seen it on the echo yet though.
No idea about him. Fall back from Depay obviously if we sign him.
