Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Losing Lucas wouldn't be the worst thing, though I'd prefer he stayed. I don't think he's a key player for Brendan regardless, and it will open up more time for Can in midfield (ideally) which is where he should be.
Dzeko is nice, but I'd rather have Benteke. Dzeko wouldn't really fit in with how we play (unless Rodgers gets sacked, then he'd be a potentially nice asset).

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Lucas, Allen, Henderson, Can are the only players who are capable of playing in CM position. Coutinho can play but he will be always roaming around in advanced positions. Can is till relatively inexperienced to play as a CM in EPL. I dont think it makes sense at all to sell Lucas. Instead we actually need a new CM so selling Lucas and signing two would be stupid.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
True, but I don't think he would suit our style. Then again, I have practically forgot his style.arty wrote:I'd prefer Dzeko to Jovetic, before this season Dzeko's PL goals have been 14, 14 and 16 per season, Jovetic has had 3 and 5.
Basically what HMR said.Cujo wrote:Losing Lucas wouldn't be the worst thing,
I wouldn't mind selling if the new CM is an upgrade over Lucas, Allen.HMR wrote:Instead we actually need a new CM so selling Lucas and signing two would be stupid.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Lucas clearly isn't much in Rodgers' plans, so if the manager stays, Lucas might as well leave. To be honest, it's easy to come up with, like, a dozen CMs who we could realistically sign and who would excite me more than Lucas.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Well we're already looking for a CM to replace Gerrard which would ideally be a starter. That leaves Henderson + CM as a base and then you have Can, Allen and Coutinho who can play in midfield plus academy call ups assuming that we even use a midfield 3.
The only reason Lucas featured much this season is because Gerrard fell off the map completely, Allen was injured and Can was being used on defence (IMO). If we can get decent value for him and he can find playing time somewhere else, again, it's not the worst thing.

No way can we lose Lucas this summer. That would mean bringing in at least 2 midfielders.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
I genuinely believe Art rates Mulumbu/Kouyate/Anita higher than Lucas.
I used to think he's trolling ....but I think Art's all time favourite current PL team would look like:
--------------------Green---------------
Simpson---Collins----Phil Jones--Konchesky
----------Mulumbu------Kouyate-------
--Moses-----------Glen Whelan------Walters
---------------------Benteke-------------
Selling Lucas and keeping Allen instead

Except that Lucas shits all over Allen and is one of the biggest personalities in the dressing room (Coutinho's BEST friend...be careful what you wish for) and god knows we lack them now.
@Art...Mascherano/Hamann weren't exciting either. When you're a DM, you aren't and SHOULD NOT be exciting. It's a position that demands the most tactical discipline and awareness.
Perez thought Makelele wasn't exciting and ruined Madrid's CL hopes for over half a decade

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
Kouyate has been great, I'd be really happy if we signed him, but don't think we're looking that way. Would rather take Kouyate than Song from this season's Hammers team.

What youth, reserves CM do we even have coming up the ranks? We always seem to have Defenders and attackers but every any young midfielders.

Benteke a concrete target along with Milner. And Ings seems done too. (Paul Joyce)

City to offer Dzeko/Jovetic+Cash for Sterling but that's a no go as we aren't interested in any of Dzeko or Jovetic (Mirror)
Well if it's true at all . . then whoooooooot??!!?!?!

LFC plot £30m raid for Benteke. Milner, Ings and Neto are other primary targets (Sunday Times - Jonathan Northcroft)

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
£20m + Dzeko would be pretty nice for Sterling. Dzeko is a good player, just out of favour at City, who think Bony is a fancier toy. Considering players we are realistically able to attract, Dzeko is from the top end of the range of that quality.
Selling Sterling for 40m and buying Benteke for 30m isn't that much better, imo, than taking Dzeko and 20m for Sterling.

yes. let's sign more target men.
It works a treat with Lambert/Balotelli/Carroll
If we sign Benteke for 30M

Cujo...Love your optimism...but let's be brutally honest. We could get linked with Leon Osman tomorrow and you'll find a way to put a positive spin on it.
Just like we could get linked with Messi tomorrow and RA would find a way to put a negative spin on it.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015
In addition, we should be building our team around Coutinho. To bring the best of him.
Benteke is the sort of forward Phil HATES to work with. He got out-paced by PHIL FREAKING JAGIELKA a couple of weeks ago
