They were always losing Kramer though so you should have been ready for that inevitability. Lars Stindl is a nice consolation. Smile

Sommer and Jantschke can come to Liverpool. Smile

Sommer and that other dude to Liverpool and Reina to bench Neuer at Bayern and rwo would probably top herself.

So let's hope Neuer keeps his spot.

Interested to see who our Forward target would be. Can't see us only targeting Ings this window. So who. . . . . hmm

There are some rumors about Benteke in Telegraph n Mirror but no one else have been talked about

Just addressed the same question to El Cujo in GS. Any targets or rumours so far?

Right now there are a ton of links, but the ones that make the most sense IMO are Higuain, Benteke and Lacazette. Unfortunately Lacazette won't come here without CL and we would probably be outbid for him anyway, and both Higuain and Benteke will command big fees. Icardi, Adriano (Luiz), Anderson and Martinez (Jackson) have been mentioned before also.

Obviously most rumours point to Memphis as being our #1 target which is great because he's a guy with killer instinct in the final third and a powerful shot so he will help with goals. He also has the perfect skillset/tools/mentality to be converted to striker much like Suarez so that might be a possibility.

Ideally we get one of Higuain/Lacazette/Benteke AND Memphis which would really address the issue of goals IMO. We don't need to revamp the whole team as it has shown at times to be very good and fluid, but goals are a must this summer and most of the kitty should be dedicated to bringing them in (and i believe they have already spoken to that being the main goal of the summer).

Felipe Anderson is not a ST. He's an AM.

I don't rate Benteke at all so no to him but I would be very happy with Pipita or Lacazette.

I would be very happy with Villarreal's Vietto as well. I rate him quite highly. And there were some links earlier in the season for him.

Also, I'm not a fan of Icardi's character but from a footballing standpoint, I would take him because he's really good at what he does and that's scoring goals, which is what we need.

Memphis + Lacazette/Higuain/Vietto/Icardi would make a great summer in my book.

Summer Transfer Window 2015 - Page 18 Empty Re: Summer Transfer Window 2015

Post by Curtinho Mon May 04, 2015 7:25 pm

For me, as I look more at the squad and who we'll have returning as well as potential sales I look at this group as a mix of who I'd like to see vying for significant time next season (most to least).

Keepers: Mignolet, Jones

Central defenders: Sakho, Lovren, Skrtel, Ilori

Fullbacks: Moreno, Manquillo, Flanagan (Sad)

Midfielders: Henderson, Can, Lucas, Allen, Rossiter

Attacking midfielders/wingers: Coutinho, Lallana, Ibe, Markovic, Ojo

Strikers: Sturridge, Origi

That would leave a starting XI looking like this for me (assuming a 4-3-3):

Mignolet
Manquillo - Lovren - Sakho - Moreno
Henderson - Lucas - Can
Lallana - Sturridge - Coutinho

Obviously to me that leaves us fairly light at fullback, striker and lacks creativity in midfield. What I'd like to carry into next season would be a midfield trio of Henderson, Can and Coutinho with Henderson and Can playing a bit deeper with Coutinho on the tip (not quite a 4-2-3-1 though) since we have more depth out wide with Origi, Markovic, Ibe and the addition of Memphis.

So in terms of an ideal summer for me personally with more thought about it I would like to see big money spend on goals and a rightback to come in that is of better quality than what we have. It doesn't need to be an expensive buy, just someone of good quality. Ideally/realistically we're looking at Memphis coming in to bring goals from wide, Higuain to shore up our striker position and say Grosskreutz as a versatile fullback that can offer support at many positions, but mostly experience and quality at rightback.

Thus allowing us to set up like this:

Mignolet
Grosskreutz - Lovren - Sakho - Moreno
Henderson - Can
Coutinho
Lallana - Higuain - Memphis

Memphis isn't an option/solution for our goal scoring problem. What he will/can become is entirely another issue.

Higuain is an interesting piece. If Napoli don't qualify for CL (which seems quite likely by the looks of it), I'm sure they will sell him. And we may use our Italian pieces as well. Benteke is possibly the worst of the bunch. Not that he is bad. He is overrated, wont improve further and would cost as much as the best of the bunch. Lazazette is a no go. Vietto and Icardi (another place to trade your Italian) are good. How will they develop and adapt is questionable. Martinez can offer 2-3 years services and like Higuain, he is matured.

If Rafa and Higuain both move to Liverpool........... hmm

(I am not aboard the BR-Out wagon, just to be clear. I think you should stick with him just one more season).

Trippier is shit defensively, he's a winger stuck at fullback, poor mans Coleman hmm

If we're going after all these shit RBs we might as well just start Flanagan or bring Arbeloa back :coffee:

OT: Without CL, we'll probably end up signing Benteke or Ings and Delph in midfield, but oh well..

Just addressed the same question to El Cujo in GS. Any targets or rumours so far?

Consistent prominent links that have been/will continue to be seen for ST: Benteke, Cavani, Higuain, Depay (even though he isn't a striker).

Make sense but not fashionable enough to make the papers often: Lacazette, Aubameyang. Honestly a bit surprised at the lack of mentions of the latter so far, seems the most well-matched option for the type of role after Sturridge and Lacazette.

Vietto, Ings, Son are all definitely possibilities for signings, but won't be our primary ST signing. Rodgers has specifically stated that the club need a clear, proven goal scorer and while these players certainly fit the general model and would offer another option for goals they don't fit that foremost criteria yet. Rodgers will know he has to get this summer right and these players are just too much of a gamble to take while on this tightrope already. Gotta say that I'm not convinced of Vietto. I've seen little of him altogether but he has the feel of another flash-in-the-pan to me.

Flanagan is out for another 6-9 months, mate. Makes it rather impossible to start him until November at the very earliest. Don't really agree with those writing Montoya off, honestly. Think he could kick on with consistent starts. Addressing the mention of Fabian Johnson by Morte(?)... not sure how much you've watched him play but he's not the player we need. Ability- and style-wise he's exactly the type of player that would frustrate fans and I suspect it would take about a month for fans to turn on him.

Pretty sure the club have no interest in Delph at this point. If we sign a midfielder it will be a direct replacement for an outgoing Lucas. Realistically though I think we'll just hold onto him for a final year and he'll leave in 2016.

Simplifying things a great deal, but if we'd signed Sanchez we'd be in the top 4 right now. A massive gut-check when we missed out that's only gotten harder to accept as the season's progressed. Sad

Exactly how much more in wages that would have taken from what we offered though is rather difficult to guess; but chances are it would have been an eye-watering amount. Would the CL revenue have been worth it? Probably.

After the failed Balotelli gambit I suspect the club will be hesitant to go for any other forwards that are less about mobility than strength or similar. Benteke is certainly more mobile and more willing to run than Balotelli is/was but he's still far from a Sturridge-type forward. We'll see though... Aston Villa and the English media are certainly doing their utmost to get that transfer going.

Yes so it seems the media are trying their best.

Anyways from current rumors the 3 strongest rumors are of 3 free agents. . Ings (though there would be a nominal fee), Milner (on a free i love this deal) & Neto (don't know much about him). So, that might suggest a lot of the funds would directed towards a mainstream striker (we can pray).
