Age doesn't bother me much (will be 26, getting closer to 27 by the winter window), but if he can't play for us in the Champions League until the following season then that would be sucky if are stuck playing Douglas in the UCL.

I disagree we need Coutinho to replace Xavi...as he is not a holding mid. We have Rafinha, Rakitic, Iniesta that can play the role Coutinho would play for us, and we are promoting Halivovic to fill our promising young midfield role on the team. And we still have that brady bunch looking mofo, Sergi.

Coutinho is more of an Iniesta type of player to me.. A creative force, capable of individual plays, but doesnt go AWOL in the midfield because of a desperate need for goals or assists.

Cedric (Soares) is a good player, I think he could make the step up. Only reason I didnt mention him before was I thought Porto already signed him to replace Danilo.

Much better than signing a winger to play the position in my opinion.

In my view, Aleix Vidal isn't good enough defensively to play right back consistently for Sevilla, let alone Barcelona. I don't know how concerned you guys are with full backs who can defend, but one-on-one he struggles a lot and he's not convincing in the tackle. Emery only played him at right back to cover for injuries, and then after that for tactical reasons - usually when Sevilla are chasing a goal, or to expose a lack of cover on that flank (as it was against Fiorentina). He's gotten a lot of hype for his performances from right back, but most of his good work is done in the opposition half.

I'm willing to bet we don't sign him at all if Sevilla win today. He would be UCL cup tied by the winter if they do. The article I read mentioned the talks of the deal for him were being held off until after the Europa League final

Never even heard of Soares, but it pleases me they are thinking out of the box and not going for the best available big name on the market.

According to several media outlets in Brazil, Barça paid €3M now, and will pay €17M by January. €20M for Gérson can be a big bargain (just turned 18)

Reports getting clear now. Barcelona bought the primary option of Gérson for €3M. They can pay €17M and sign him in January, if they decide.

So we pay 3M to get the first option....so if we decide not to sign him we just threw 3M away? dafuq lol

I wanted to say similar to be honest. I think its premature to talk so boldly that this is a waste of money and that he isnt that good and we are buying a "overhyped Brazilian"...give the boy a chance , wait and see and then make your opinion.
