Bellerin may be the one and only Arsenal player we should sign and that would go back to the days of Henry. He was the last Arsenal player who I ever considered beforehand a good choice and when we inevitably go for Bellerin it would probably make sense then to.

He is improving all the time on the small details but the talent is already there. Decision making and final ball will make him a very accomplished right back.

50m for Ramsey is flat out dumb as hell. Hope Laporta is in chargd by then and whtever sporting director we have at the time doesnt do this deal.

Btw, are we allowed to make agreements with club and players now, and then just have the player join us in January? Or are we banned from that? I'm assuming we are banned from that

We are allowed verbal argreements with other teams.

for example we can talk to juventus and say don't sell pogba to X team and if someone offers more than us we'll meet the price

if we're going to buy Pogba i also believe we'll just wait till next year and not january as he'll be cup tied to champions league (assuming juve aren't dumb enough not to use him in champions league group stages)

rumor has it we are looking for talent in south america and teams like dortmund for players because they are not taking part in the champions league so that player can join us in January and be of use.

In other words.. don't have your mind set on new players this up coming season except something dramatic happens with injuries and we're desperate come january.

well we are linked to Fabinho, who was on loan to Monaco this season, a pretty tall right back but he returns to his club in Brazil this summer.

would be ideal to go for him as i've heard some good things about him.
only thing is he isn't as offensive as we seem to want him to be.

Fabinho is owned by Rio Ave, who play in Portugal.

Only for Europa League, but I think that a CL team can only register up to 2 players that played in Europa League.

So weird, I thought about this guy when we discussing wingers because every time I have seen him play he has been very good.

But im still not convinced he is good enough for Barca, but he is Catalan so that probably isnt that relevant.

I'm actually convinced he's considered for rightback primarily. This rumour suddenly emerged after he played there against Fiorentina and scored a brace. What would be the difference to playing Pedro there though?

Yeah, your probably right. I dont think he has the quality to play that high up the pitch for us, without the space. Rightback is different thoug, maybe he can..

But yeah, I dont get it. Why cant we just get a guy who plays the position normally.

He may have the attributes for it, so may Pedro..but the mental aspect of being a right back worries me with these guys, at least untill they show otherwise.

In fairness, the rightback market isn't exactly full of talent. I struggle to think of anyone besides Danilo, who is gone, and Bellerin.

Meh, there is talent out there if we looked, we have the resources to look all over the world. Just because me and you cant name them doesnt mean they dont exist. 18 months ago, nobody would say Bellerin and now we are.

I can bet anything in the next 12 months someone will sign a "no name" rightback who is actually very good...then we will go and sign the same guy 3 years later for 3 times the price Laughing

I love this guy, first discovered him on fifa 14 where he was OP as hell. Then watched a few of his games this season. Great player, perhaps not Barca quality but you could do worse. Plus with Pedro leaving, he could be a safe bet.

Actually a good point, he can play right back since Alves is leavig and cover for Pedro if he leaves. A man of many talents. As mentioned, would still suck if Sevilla qualify for the UCL by winning the Europa

As a RW he is definitely not good enough for us....
RB perhaps. We have a story of signing wingers and convert them to full backs and succeding, so I'm not worried as long as Luis Enrique likes him. Even Alves himself played most games as RW at Sevilla.

Right, my concern is more about him being cup tied. Which is probably why that article states that talks are being held off until after the Europa League final.

Age doesn't bother me much (will be 26, getting closer to 27 by the winter window), but if he can't play for us in the Champions League until the following season then that would be sucky if are stuck playing Douglas in the UCL.

If Barca manage to win the CL this season there is no chance to retain it next season anyway so I'm fine with 1 season of Douglas vs. Hazard/Ribery/Ronaldo. :coffee:
