Verdict on Javier Chicharito Hernandez?

I think he is the perfect substitute player we can wish for.

The argument in favor are

He is completely different player to Benzema, brings a whole new dimension when we need it. His off the ball movement is great ,something benzema lacking. He is also a hard worker, ran across the entire defense to press their defenders when Ronaldo was just ball watching. Even came deep to form a 5 man midfield when things got harder in second half. If we are smart we should keep him..thoughts?

My theory is that Benzema scoring instinct (or whatever) is dormant due to having to stifle it with Cristiano being around. By design of course.

I agree that he would bring a very different approach to how we play and he plays exactly like a striker would. Just make sure you can stomach him not really contributing to any real build like Benzema.

Rumor is we have until April 30th to exercise our first right of refusal with Chich. For 10 mil I am going to vote yes.

I would definitely sign him up. I know 10mil isn't exactly much for Madrid, but I'm not entirely sure if Florentino would go for it. I have noticed though that since he's joined there seems to be a much greater Mexican interest than in previous years, that may tilt it Chica's way.

Agree perfect substitute player, as good as Benz is Chica offers something different. Reminds me a little bit of Higuain in that 07-08 season.

i'm still waiting on this one....i'll wait till the end of the season to make my assessment on him. yes he scored against atleti and celta, and has been doing quite well when brought on. but we have some huge games coming up, he'll most likely not start, but when he comes on, i'll be expecting similar output....so for now, i'm still on the fence on this one, we'll see when the season ends (i hope he does well, if not for anything, for trophies. any contributions towards silverware is more than welcome). however i'm not sure i see us keeping him

If Chicharito keeps this up till the end of the season (given Benzema is still hurt) and we continue playing well and scoring goals... it makes me question if Benzema's linkup we all fap about is just something we tend to overhype.


A lot of our arguments for Benzema is that despite not being a "goal-scorer" his link up play is necessary for our attack.

This competition is good for him.

I would take him. He's a good sub and plan B for Benzema.

Benzema should start regardless.

I'd prefer Rodrigo tbh. But he deserves to start somewhere and Valencia have started a great project. But if I'd want anyone it'd be him.

He is not a scrub. He is very very very good and he fits our playing style

Chicha has been shining mostly because Bale has been out... just like Benz did. He also has a big energy edge right now because everyone else is worn down since it's April and he's barely played.

It's far different to consistently put up 20+ goals and 10+ assists season after season than to have a good month here and there. There's a reason he was benched by SAF and Van Gaal... He's now been in Europe for 6 seasons and has yet to score 20 goals in a season for a club. In comparison, Benz has been a pro for 8 years and has scored 20 or more in 7 of those years.
