I thought we would be all over Illara if he was available. After all those links in the winter window. *sigh*

In an era where a 'young English CB' for 4th choice costs 26m quid and nobody bats an eye. hmm

I rate him. hmm
Lad's still young. Can still improve, as he'll be understudy to Coquelin. Which is something we don't have.

It'd be a bit pointless to go from Madrid's bench to our bench.

I don't even know if Madrid are selling. Benitez will probably want a look at him during pre-season.

Thomas Müller of Bayern? Definitely. But depends on conditions : as a replacement to Theo Walcott at a resonable price (not 100m€!!), why not. However, there is more likelihood of me having triplets with Emma Watson than that happening I guess hmm

Thomas Muller is incredible but there's no reason for Bayern to sell so he'd cost enough for us to have to mortgage the Emirates.

AS Roma are interested in Arsenal's Wojciech Szczesny with talks ongoing between the two clubs. [Sky Italia]

Would rather not tbh. The one big advantage he has over Ospina is knowing the Arsenal and PL inside out. Would be sad to see him leave. Loan for game time, in PL preferably, would be a good option.

A loan at Spuds as Lloris's understudy would definitely teach him some humility. Also, #AgentSzcz Laughing

15m would be a good business imo.

I know hes a gunner through and through but didnt live up to his expectations.

Plus, we can always find good goalies

It doesn't make much different whether Szczesny or Ospina leaves. It's not like we'd be without a good number two keepers.

And being realistic, if Cech performs half as well as we expect him to for the duration of his contract, Szczesny not going to get many chances anyway and would probably ask to leave before too long.

Perhaps it would be better to start investing in another young keeper - Emi Martinez, or somebody new.

I really don't like short GKs so, while Wenger can't go too wrong either way, I'd still prefer to keep Szczesny. Added bonus that he's homegrown.

I think it is a big call about who we keep - you're underplaying it a bit here.

Either will benefit from all that Cech can teach them. Szczesny, for example, only really had Lolmunia and later Flappy to learn from. I think that played a role in him not being all that we thought he would be. His recent off-field antics aside, I still believe he's got it in him.

We had some good shoutouts in the youth setup, last I remember. Illiev, etc.

Can't compare when you aren't sure m8. :coffee:

He's been with the youth/reserves and also as captain at that level. He has been injured a good while recently though. He should be 5th choice right now though.
