On a more serious note: Athletic won't sell anything below the release clause for Laporte (50m), see Herrera and Javi Martinez. Llorente had to wait for his contract to expire to leave lol

With 50m you can get Romagnoli and a cheeky Rugani imo

Magnússon for 30m it is then hmm

Seriously though, with 30m you can probably bid for Vertonghen or for cb's of his quality...

and about the 20m spent on Bertolacci, wouldn't Xhaka be available for a similar amount?

BMG are in the CL, doubt he'd leave. Vertonghen, would command a massive fee i imagine, knowing Spurs and former first class honors student, financial wizard and high mage of economics, Daniel Levy.

My guess is that Sinisa wants a young CB(s), something we currently lack (Ely doesn't count)

Since Silvio didn't get his Italian Milan might as well give him an Italian defense.

Ely doesn't count ?? And how much Romagnoli did count before this season ? I'd honestly give that spot to Ely than to pay 30m for a 20 year old CB , no matter how much money we have , or how promising he is .

I think the reason we are so much interested in Romagnoli is because Mihajlovic knows him so well from their time at Sampdoria and he fits the exact profile Mihajlovic asked for

I haven't watched him to actually judge his talent but I think 30mil is a bit too much to pay on a 20yr old who hasn't played a minute for Roma

I think Ely would get his chance to showcase his talent during pre season. It's up to him to grab it with both hands

Ely is an unknown quantity coming from a Serie B side, we can't expect him to suddenly become a starter and drive us back to European football. Also, i didn't suggest we should blow 30m on Romagnoli, my preference is still Abdennour at the moment, rather than giving Roma 30m to blow

I know he is , so was Romagnoli a year or so ago .

X times doing this though , than spend 30m on Romagnoli , was my point .  As for Abdennour , didn't his agent say he wants EPL/La Liga ?

Anyway , read on Milan fans page on FB that Milan will be offering 17-18m for Romagnoli , despite what was reported. Well even that would be very expensive , but i would be ok with such an offer tbh . Still very expensive , but not 30m madness .

Anyway , you never know. If Milan actually offers 18m , well 18m on the table is better than 30m you will never get . Highly unlikely Roma will sell anyway and even the player's agent said he would listen to Juventus because they play in the CL , apparently .

Lol 1 good season and he wants to play in europe , kk . He wouldn't even play 10 games at Juventus .

Abdennour's agent: "There was a misunderstanding. I can say there is currently no concrete offers from Italy."

Abdennour's agent: "There has only been inquiries from Italy. Abdennour would like to play in Italy, but there are no offers."

Abdennour's agent: "Anyone who wants him, needs to speak with Monaco first. Italy is a solution, but only if the right offer arrives."

Not sure if Roma will go below 30, maybe include Poli in the deal? Dunno, if the Bert/Bacca deal is any indication we'll bow to their demands

Some positive news on Abdennour i see .

On Romagnoli , you think Berlusconi would give the Ok to get a 20 year old CB for 30m ? I really don't think so . But who knows with them . I also find it really difficult to believe Galliani would actually do such a thing anyway .

I will have to see this to believe it .

Milan will try to finalize the transfer of José Mauri within the next two days, according to Sky.

The agent of Jovetic and Nastasic will meet with Milan tomorrow. [Sky]

There have been no new contacts with Ibrahimovic and Milan. Zlatan has asked to leave, but PSG won't grant his wish at the moment according to Sky

^There's been bad blood between Al-Khelaifi and Ibra ever since after the meeting they had in Doha a few weeks ago. Ibra, told them he wanted to go to Milan but they shot down that idea instantly. Ibra was furious after the meeting.

What's Jose Mauri like? Haven't seen too much of him.

Good news about Abdennour by the way. I still doubt we'll get him, but at least the door is open.

A Gattuso whose never won the ball clean in his life, but is capable of driving the ball forward and is decent in tight spaces.

Yeah pretty much. A Gattuso type with a little more technical skill.

I like the kid. Italian media has been hyping him for this past year. He won't be starting material right off the bat (although with how shit our mf is, who knows), but he has loads of potential.

For anyone else who hasn't watched him before, this isn't even exaggeration, his thuggery makes Mexes look clean. Laughing I personally don't think he offers enough on the ball to justify being a foul machine but if it does go through at least it's an inexpensive deal.

Milan meeting with Nastasic's agent tomorrow

6 months too late but, would you guys take him over some of the names we've been linked with? A City mate of mine, claims that he isn't that good. He doesn't agree with Pelle, but he was spot on not to play Nastasic. Every game he played for the last couple of seasons he made a mistake leading to a goal, according to him. Dunno if its hyperbole or not lol

One plus is that he won't go for an abnormal fee, and he has experience in Serie A. So there's that

Today's updates.

Bacca will under go medicals and sign contract today in Colombia

Napoli wants Gabriel for 5 million. Milan wants 10 million

Rami is close to Sevilla for 3 million

Abbiati is going to renew. Galliani says he earned a life long contract with his performance against inter in CL semi final 2003.

IMO. I don't want to sell Gabriel especially since he has shown such improvements. The only way I would let him go is for 10 million with Rajkovic coming to replace him

I'd personally like to see Gabriel spend another year on loan at Carpi and gain experience in Serie A. I doubt Napoli are going to want to spend any more than 5 million on him with Reina returning and Rafael still on their books. I don't see much use to keeping him around as a back up this season however, I'd rather he be out playing regularly or sold.

As for Rami, if he wishes to go to Sevilla then we shouldn't stand in his way. We got him to pay part of his own transfer fee then made him suffer under a poor coach, best of luck to him in the future.

Abbiati's renewal I am fine with, now that we have Lopez as a reliable first choice keeper it doesn't really matter who our reserve is and Abby's just part of the furniture.

As for Nastasic, he's not a defensive giant but he can be a decent addition with the right partner. I'd have been happy to have him before we started splashing the cash everywhere but now that we've decided to start investing seriously I'd rather we pursue the other targets we've been linked with first.

Also Dante's point about Ely is very important. Prior to last season, Romagnoli and Rugani were entirely unknown quantities. They were the subject of a degree of hype due to their performances at youth level but no one knew how well they'd adapt to Serie A. Their first years in Serie A were their break out years.

Here our decision must come down to the coach. If Sinisa looks at Ely in training and decides that he's able to immediately step up to the plate then I'll trust in his judgement. If he's serious about pushing for Romagnoli then give him what he wants. Is it too much money? In previous years, certainly. If money is no issue though, then all that matters is that you get your targets. Having spent quite a bit in the opening weeks already on a striker - inb4GL Laughing -and midfielder it will say a lot if we then go out and pay whatever is necessary for a defender. This is the point where you'd expect Milan to suddenly chicken out and start trying to get secondary targets on loans with options to buy. If we make a move for Romagnoli it is a huge sign of intent that the money's just going to keep flowing.

So Roma doesn't value Romagnoli at 30m , but 20m , if reports are to be believed. 20m changes things , however it's still expensive .

As for making a point with the spending Dosto , well , i agree . But the thing is , this doesn't need to happen with a 20 year old CB , which you can't even commercialise . Do that with a player that will attract people in the stadium , that you'll see his face on Cheetos or something , a player who you will see on TV somewhere .

Had we spent 30m on a 20 year old CB , that is as risky and ilogical as it gets . I am not even sure it gets the point across really , it kinda shows more desperation if anything .

You want to make a statement ?? Break the bank for Isco or something. 30m on Romagnoli would have been outrageous , he had one good season and he's 20 , you don't know if he's the next Ranocchia or not. Maybe he isn't , but taking a 30m risk to find out is a huge nope .

If the question is if the money are going to keep flowing , you could do that with 18-20m for Romagnoli and would still be the same thing. But if we are to make a statement for everyone to know we are pretty serious once again , they have to break the bank on somebody big .

No need, I believe in Zlatan's Great Escape. Proud

PSG's FFP restrictions have been lifted according to L'Equipe so they're free to go and purchase a star to replace Ibra. Proud

You do raise an excellent point about marketability but sadly I don't think we'll be able to obtain any target bar Ibra who would capture the imagination of fans. If we return to the Champions League in 12 months on the basis of a great season then I can definitely see us going after someone flashy though.
