I'll be the devil's advocate here: without the new rules he would play in EL both seasons

Of course they didn't have a super squad, probably still won't next season, and in this regard i think Conte is a better choice

He reached targets in both years . So he deserves our thanks. His job can't be underrated if I think we have not played Champions League for 6 years before him.
Easily best coach of the post-triplete era.

Having said that , honestly just who's followed Inter matches on teletext can believe we didn't need of a change.

We've regressed so much , at the point to risk to miss CL place.

His Inter race consists on negative spiral that was traced clearly. Touched stagnation under him, and It Is perfect to change now with a better coach too.

If we held Spalletti , he 'd have been sacked on following season soon and we'd have ruined season.

He leaves in the best way, and we can begin a new project with a new (and better) manager on Ideal conditions.

Fan of this decision.

On the other hand if the reasoning Is " You can't sack a manager after he's reached results for 2 years in a row", Inter would not have changed Mancini with Mourinho in 2008 after a scudetto title.
