Re: Man Utd set to sign Monaco forward for €80m
money alone doesnt do shit You need a very strong foundation to build on, like Spain and Germany have developed. Spain and Germany, the top clubs from both of the country have a base of youth and local players or clubs like Madrid have built their own image/brand/system (revenue generation and spending). Messi, Ronaldo dont make alone the La Liga matter. They are complimented by the system which exploits the best out of both.
England just doesnt have that yet. Looking at the current state of football, I just dont see that happening. These strong teams will keep on signing players from EPL. The only way players will start having less attraction towards these teams is, 'English Clubs winning CL 3 times in next 5 years' (something on those lines) thereby the perception among players will start to change. But I just dont see that happening in next 5-6 years at least. The south American players will eventually settle in Spanish Land.

Re: Man Utd set to sign Monaco forward for €80m
you think Pep + limitless budget and freedom to sign any player he wants will not improve City's european woes for example ?
what foundation did Malaga have before the takeover of that B level sheikh and almost making the semis of the CL ( they got robbed against Dortmund tbh ) within year of hiring a great coach and investing in the team ?
what foundation did PSG have before becoming perennial quarter finalists and CL dark horses ?
you guys are exaggerating this whole EPL slum . bringing good coaches + making some shrewd signings will pay dividends fairly quickly .

Re: Man Utd set to sign Monaco forward for €80m
You know I don't disagree farfan.
One thing IS interesting though. I think one can observe that the shower of money has indeed brought about a focus on buying and the transfer market.
Football is played by teams, a successful team takes time to grow. Since the 'buy players' craze seems to be directly related to the money available, one could argue that the more money available, the lesser they are able to form teams.
Ultimately of course good management + more money should trump good management + less money.
But maybe more money brings worse management with it?

ok then you might see a quarter final appearance once in a while from EPL team but that doesnt mean that the perception/brand/dominace will change. I mean Barca were shit during that 13-14 season but they just needed 2-3 pieces to solve the puzzle and they were back with a bang in 14-15 season.

RealGunner wrote:It's not about him rejecting anyone. Monaco didn't want to sell any of their stars. But The money for Martial was unbelievable. Not even Madrid would have rejected an 80m bid for 70% of their players
Vasilyev recently claimed that during the summer transfer window he had rejected an offer worth more than for the amount that he eventually sold Martial to Manchester United for.
He(this Vasilyev guy) would have rejected this offer as well if it wasnt for Martial's objection.
So eventhough he(Anthony) didnt reject anyone per se, going by this story he was against them rejecting United's offer specifically.
Now people can read into it and reason it in whichever way they like. More Opportunity to play would have been a reason, not denying that. But the lad himself has said he wanted to join United more.

they could do that because they have been stable for past few years (financially and football wise both) and if same set of players join an EPL team, what do you think which EPL team will win treble and dominate like them throughout all competitions ! If they manage to win all of that with a Neymar 2.0 , eventually they will lose him to Barca or Madrid
