http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11670/10278843/borussia-monchengladbach-deny-arsenal-bid-for-granit-xhakaskysports wrote:Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has denied speculation Arsenal have made an offer for Granit Xhaka.
Sky Sports News HQ reported Arsenal's interest in Xhaka in March, and on Wednesday German media claimed the Premier League club were close to signing the Switzerland international after tabling an offer.
Speaking to Kicker, Eberl confirmed Borussia face a fight to keep the midfielder but said his club are yet to receive a bid.
"There is no official offer," Eberl said. "But Granit Xhaka is an issue. It's clear he has generated interest at other clubs.
"We have to wait and see what happens."
Liverpool have also been linked with Xhaka, who said in February it remains his "dream" to play in the Premier League.
He is set to depart for Euro 2016 with Switzerland at the end of the Bundesliga season and has admitted he would like his future sorted sooner rather than later.
"It would be good if I knew where my future lies in the new season before the Euros," Xhaka said.
"It's not all that helpful if you have to think about stuff like that during the tournament. I would be pleased if it were to be decided before, but it wouldn't be a problem if it's after."

he had a great season but the football that we played wasnt good and have to move from it
I'm not against a change in formation, but only if it suits our best players.
4312 sounds better to me, we don't have any wingers anyway.

Arsenal held another meeting in London recently for discussions to sign N'Golo Kanté. They want to wrap the deal up before EURO 2016. (France Football)
Sounds (and I hope) like BS.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
If we want to have a remotely decent defensive structure, the wide players must track back and help out the midfield. Do we want Ozil going back helping out the defence? No, we need him up the field to help our transitions and so he can use his energy in better areas of the pitch.
Ozil is the best 10 in the world, so he should play there.
What needs to happen is that the double-pivot needs re-balancing. Xhaka as a DLP will be solve one half. His partner needs to be positionally disciplined or move mobile than Xhaka - so Elneny or Coquelin would be the best picks.
I think Ramsey could be a great wide midfielder in the mould of Koke at Atleti. He just needs that discipline drilled into him.

We'll never play 4-3-1-2 under arsene. It will be either 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. Arsene likes his wide players even if he plays someone like Ramsey there

Still an absolute joke how we got guys like Gervinho, Giroud, Sanogo but didn't get Martial when Lyon were begging us to buy him.

Arsenal 'annoyed' that another club are exercising their right to wait for the best possible deal they can get for a coveted player.

Arsene doesn't sign players from Serie A, our Scouts mainly look at Spain, Germany and France etc so forget about Moratta plus he isn't that good anyway.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
I also think a 4-3-1-2 might suit the squad as it is, more or less, but I agree it's unlikely under Wenger and probably suicide in the Premier League anyway. Could we move Arsenal to Serie A?
Could be into this honestly - instead of seeing Ramsey as a temporary non-winger played out of position, he could be molded into a wide midfielder who contributes to all phases of play but isn't trying/failing to always either cut in or cross on attack. (Been mirin Koke a lot recently, whatta player.) Similar could apply to Ox, as you imply.
Now all you'd need for non-defensive signings, after Xhaka, would be that elusive forward.
Jay with solid ideas.

Pep Guardiola wants the Citizens to sign Kanté, and his new club has held two meetings with Kanté’s representatives, with the second occurring just yesterday.
Arsenal have also held their own meetings with Kanté’s representatives, and it is the Gunners whose arguments have been the most convincing to the former SM Caen man so far.
AFC and also Chelsea who have made discreet enquiries remain more interesting propositions for Kanté at the moment than Manchester City, according to the report.
The player has a €25m release clause.

75m for public view and other clubs. Most likely 100m in reality if we want

I severely doubt that Max Eberl will agree to 30 Mio GBP, especially when it seems that ManCity is in the bidding, too.Sina wrote:Arsenal expect a busy summer in the transfer market, with a £30 million deal to sign Granit Xhaka close to completion [via The Times @MattHughesTimes, @DickinsonTimes]

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Curiously, there were no questions in today's press conference about Xhaka. Almost like Arsenal specifically blocked them or something.
Usually when there's this sudden noise about a player being close to joining, Wenger will play it down as soon as possible.
There might be some quotes later tonight though. We'll see.
It's the usual game of papers going with their own fee. All we know is that German papers, and one quite close to Gladbach, said €45mil which is £35mil. So not massively off that £30mil figure.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Well, it's true that the papers usually throw dice to come up with figures, but as Granit Xhaka is critically important for Gladbach and he only has a release clause for Summer 2017, this means that Max Eberl will only sell if he gets a truly immoral offer.Jay29 wrote:It's the usual game of papers going with their own fee.
