Pique, the backbone of one of the top 5 defences in the world is not a top CB?

Thiago Silva is probably still the best CB in the world, or just behind Boateng.

I still love him. Even when playing as a holding mid for reasons I really don't understand, he still puts in an honest and surprisingly good shift. Hala, however, is still going through unresolved feelings for Di Maria and chose Pepe to rebound with.

Yeah i think we can all agree Pique had his moments post Puyol and struggled to adapt to life without him but he hasn't been like that for a long time.

It's not even about Puyol. Every defender is going to struggle if he plays on a team that employs a highline but doesn't press. Pique has been awesome for over a year now and is definitely one of the best CB's in the world.

While that's true i don't think the influence of Puyol should be underestimated, he clearly struggled without him for a long time and looked lost at times.

He's grown up enough now though.

First off, you two are really unaware of Hala's weird fondness of Pepe this season, honestly does not make sense. Secondly, Pique is a really good defender, world class even but like Valdes and even Pepe for that matter, would never be fully recognised as such for various degrees of reasoning.

Piqué is a garbage defender and will get torn to shreds  every week if wasn't playing in a team that monopolizes possession , presses opponents into oblivion, and accentuates his few qualities while masking  his endless flaws  .
