Which league is going to dominate next?
For the 3rd consecutive year, we have a Spanish team in the final.
Before this, we had PL teams dominating and before that, the Italian teams.
Who's next?

Premier League again, and the La Liga teams don't seem to decline either. Don't think we'll see a massive shift any time soon (next 3 years).

Ya, I see EPL making a comeback too.
Also, the issue with La Liga is that you can expect only Barca & Madrid to keep going at this pace. Imo Atletico are going to have a drop once Simeone goes.
I don't see EPL challenging in EL anytime soon though. The clubs just don't seem to care much about the competition.

How can you say that when PL team is going to win EL this season.

I'll be rooting for Liverpool too, but they are yet to got through.
Besides, 1 club in semi does not mean EPL dominating.

swear i have been hearing this for like 5 or so seasons, prem is rubbish and fans need to accept their 15 mins in the sun ain't coming back, no reason for rm, barca and atleti to suddenly decline.

Re: Which league is going to dominate next?
No. For the third consecutive year, La Liga wins the CL. Out of those three finals, two of them were All-Spanish finals...from the same City. In the last 5 years, at least two Spanish teams have reached the semi-finals. In the last 7 years, La Liga has won the CL 5 times. In the last 6 years, La Liga has won the Europa league 4 times and 7 in the last 12 years.CM Pep wrote:For the 3rd consecutive year, we have a Spanish team in the final.
Dominating without winning though. The PL has won the CL twice in the last ten years and three times in the last 16 years. I remember Arsenal, Chelsea and United reached the CL semi-final when the PL was at its peak, but they didn't stay consistent like Liga teams. Nobody did. Before this, we had PL teams dominating and before that, the Italian teams.
Who's next?
Nobody. The Spanish dominance will end sooner or later; especially with the ridiculous money going to the PL. But I think La Liga deserves a standing ovation for the unparalleled and unprecedented dominance in recent years.

Re: Which league is going to dominate next?
Atleti will decline just like that the moment Simeone leaves.
Then we're left with Barca and Real.
Generally speaking, we shouldn't forget how closely these supposedly 'global' developments of leagues declining and ascending are, yes, based on certain (mostly economic) fundamentals, but also to a large part determined by specific, individual instances of mis- or good management.
We perceive the PL as declined because their top clubs aren't winning stuff internationally anymore and have declined in quality, compared to other top clubs.
First of all, this is tied to things like Ferguson quitting (and before, not reinvesting the Ronaldo sale), Wenger being stingy as ever while his eye for talent has faded away, Liverpool going nearly bankrupt and plastic club turmoils at Chelsea and City.
No reason, with good management, a couple of PL clubs can't get back in the very top.
What's more, who's to say there are not ALREADY developments in the PL due to the money shower which will eventually lead to the top clubs bouncing back?
The strength of West Ham, Tottenham and the likes as well as a story like Leicester's are all signs the league is being shaken up by an influx of quality.

Re: Which league is going to dominate next?
It's hard to understand why la Liga is so overtly dominant. Does someone know why or how? Barça and Madrid have clearly the most talented squads with Bayern, but the other teams being so dominant too... it's a mistery.

Re: Which league is going to dominate next?
Other than Atletico , what other teams are actualy dominating ? Didn't Sevilla lose both legs to the " terrible " Manchester city and only made it to the Europa on goal difference ? didn't Valencia bow out of the CL at the hands of *bleep* Gent ?
Let's not get carried away with the EL results where teams like Dnipro make it to the final and the likes of Shakhtar are considered powerhouses .

Gotta be PL with the best managers in the world flocking there and the stupid amount of money floating around the league, but I don't see Spanish teams declining much over the next 5 years.

Re: Which league is going to dominate next?
The problem I see with the PL is that it's too competitive. The PL dominated in an era in which the top 4 never changed so these 4 teams consistently got CL football (and revenue) allowing them to continually re-invest. Now, the PL is too competitive and remaining in the top 4 is no longer simply a matter of budget but also smart management, smart transfers, etc. So there's no guarantee that teams will consistently make the Top 4 (possibly Top 3) required to get the CL revenues. Meanwhile, Bayern/Atleti/Barca/Madrid/Juve will continue to consistently get that extra revenue and experience. So I don't think these 5 teams are going anywhere, even if the PL starts playing in Europe as they should.

Re: Which league is going to dominate next?
You think like a business man and football isn't business.
More money does not mean success. Lack of money wasn't the reason EPL top clubs going backwards. Money isn't the reason la liga teams doing well in Europe... Quite contrary, la liga teams know their limitations and have tried to tackle it by being v much better in all other field. Lack of money? No problem better academy, better transfers, much better coaches and playing style.

Re: Which league is going to dominate next?
More money is no substitute for kick and rush tactics and bad transfer policies. EPL has had more money than everyone for a while, but only seems to be getting worse. Even during their period of dominance, they barely won anything.
Add to that, La Liga's TV deal is due somewhat soon, and while it isn't anywhere near EPL money, it will give the small teams a chance to hold onto some players, and buy better than they currently can.

Re: Which league is going to dominate next?
The EPL's perceived dominance, culminated with the year there was an all-EPL CL final and I think 3 EPL semi-finalists?
It coincided with the Serie A's drop as a result of Calciopoli and a one season drop in form of La Liga. I don't think the EPL will have another such opportunity. Between the way football is played in England (unless all the teams begin playing like Leicester), the tremendous strength of La Liga (30 points higher in coefficient than the next 3 leagues, which are bunched together), the improving Serie A and the steady Bundesliga, I the money will result in EPL dominance.

No, it will be Spain for a long time. EPL/Serie A/Bundesliga will probably be exchanging the three places below La Liga.
