Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Debuchy could be going to Galatasaray on loan, according to Turkish journos. They say a deal has been agreed with Arsenal, but Debuchy is still deciding.
Can't say that Turkey is a particulalry attractive destination currently.

meh
nothing to look forward to this season
just hope we agree new deals with our important players
better than seeing the same nonsense with Giroud upfront.. hope Akpom does some Anelka or something.. and Wenger comes out saying "see i knew it"..

“The money is never a problem if you have to pay what is requested,” he said after the 8-0 win over Viking.
“The price of a player is down to four ingredients. One is the talent, two his age, three is how much you expect him to improve your team, and four his resale value.
“If he ticks all four boxes then the price is not that important. You have to find the player.”

The first 3, I can agree with.
But we really shouldn't be basing judgments on resale value anymore. What poverty thoughts.

Arsenal may intensify interest in Shkodran Mustafi – and player is keen
Deporte Valenciano claim that Arsenal’s interest in Shkodran Mustafi is set to intensify due to fact that their other target, former captain Thomas Vermaelen, is bound for AS Roma.
They say that Mustafi remains very keen on Arsenal, however the price that Valencia have quoted is more than Arsenal are necessarily willing to pay.
However, Roma’s swoop for Vermaelen could force the Gunners’ hand as their need for a defender grows more and more desperate.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
Makes total sense especially as Mustafi is a strongly right sided, and Vermaelen a strongly left sided defender.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
This Wenger/Walcott game of flip-flopping about ST/RW has me a little apprehensive. Both of them have changed their story about their opinion on where Theo plays best, and now, weirdly they're at cross purposes again. Transfer-wise, I worry that it's a kind of public insurance on AW's part to cover the choice/necessity of playing Theo up front in case Arsenal don't sign that attacking player of some quality. (And for Theo, I feel like he's arrived at the reasonable conclusion, albeit a few years late, that he might have a better shot at regular football if he commits fully to the RW position.)

tbf, as I mentioned before, in 14/15, Lacazette took and scored 8 penalties. He shouldn't be discredited for that but the most important number for a ST is the non-penalty goals per 90 mins.
In 15/16 he took and scored 2 in the league meaning in both seasons he scored 19 goals in Ligue 1, excluding penalties. Not exactly the same as playing in England, and good numbers too.

In case anyone was worried: Barcelona have just announced that Thomas Vermaelen is undergoing a medical at Roma.

If we're going to be fair then we also have to mention the fact that Giroud plays with the most creative midfielder in the world, a better overall team and is at the prime of his career. Lacazette had none of these things going for him and still produced great numbers.

Re: The Official Summer Transfer Rumours Thread
And yet he's still at Lyon and wasn't called up to the French NT while Giroud was.
National team call-ups have a lot to do with how a player fits the selection as well as talent, so I'm not damning him with that statement but it's worth noting that Deschamps and Wenger have gone this long without feeling it necessary to make him part of their teams.
And I definitely wasn't saying Lacazette hasn't impressed with his Ligue 1 tally but, rather, that those numbers didn't tell the full story.
