I forget how much City paid for Walker but surely it was too much.

Re: The Three Lions
£50m. Not the silkiest footballer you'll ever see.
There's no chemistry between this midfield and frontline at all. Really don't like Henderson as an 8, especially on the right hand side with Walker and Rashford.
Any threat we have has come down the left with Chillwell, Barkley and Sterling. Not surprising, really.

England took more than 10 minutes to get a single ball to him. Henderson, what a disaster of a performance.

The state of your national team when a no-name, no-caps 18-year-old is the source of excitement...
Who might yet choose to switch the national team he plays for, lol

Re: The Three Lions
As he's just played in a competitive fixture, he can't, in fact, switch national teams.
And if he could, his parents are from Trinidad and Tobago. Something would have to go seriously wrong to let a player of his ability play for them.
Might want to do some research before trying to piss on people's chips.

England have some exciting talent coming up in attack with Sancho, Nelson, Hudson-Odoi, Mount. Hopefully the latter two leave Chelsea asap

Rooney in for his "farewell" cap vs USA. First call up for Callum Wilson.

Re: The Three Lions
Wilson deserves it for his form. Eventhough he is not International standard. I suppose he is replacing Vardy essentially.

Re: The Three Lions
England to face USA:
Pickford; Alexander-Arnold, Keane, Dunk, Chilwell; Winks, Delph; Lingard, Alli, Sancho; Wilson
Keane and Dunk
Rooney on the bench, of course. Presumably he'll come on after 60 or mins, get a polite applause, and then run around a bit.

Re: The Three Lions
It's a cringeworthy farewell comeback for Rooney. He was never that good for England. You look at the list of his international goals:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_international_goals_scored_by_Wayne_Rooney
and against top football nations he's got five goals, all in friendlies (Brasil, Argentina, Holland and France who he scored against). The only WC goal of his career against Uruguay. The rest are against your Bulgarias and Icelands. Might as well give these farewell games to half the international players if Rooney's the standard.

Re: The Three Lions
Reception to it here has been lukewarm at best tbf. There had been no suggestion of this happening, and I dare say that had Rooney not gone to the US and had a purple patch of form, it wouldn't have happened at all.
The fact that Wembley is far from full tells you all you need to know, really.

Re: The Three Lions
Game has a testimonial feel to it so far.
Pulisic's been bright for the USA. He missed a decent 1v1 chance.
Lingard scored a curler, and Alexander-Arnold has just made it 2-0 with a great strike. Sancho assist, too.

Re: The Three Lions
Good on England. We got thoroughly out-played by their B-team. That's what happens when we don't have a permanent coach because the federation are still dicking around with their decision.
As for the game itself, I have no clue what we were trying to accomplish. No clear approach, no clear style and no cohesion. I'm a big fan of John Anthony Brooks, but he was awful in this game and Wilson took him behind the woodshed. McKennie will be a good player if he's given a definitive role. Trapp looked good, but I think Tyler Adams will be an improvement on him. Pulisic is the only player we have that looked capable of matching the quality from the England attackers, just a shame he left his shooting boots in Dortmund. Tim Weah was a non-factor. England are great young team and we made them look even better. Meh.

Re: The Three Lions
It looked like you were trying to play 4-4-2 with a lot of licence to roam given to Pulisic, since he's your best player. The problem with that was it left the right flank open and England targeted it by sending Alli over to create overloads with Chilwell and Sancho.
On the other hand, I did think the US carried some menace when they went forward and had some promising spells on possession. I think McKennie, Weah and Pulisic are really promising talents.

Re: The Three Lions
Yeah and it's like Sarachan saw this happening and thought "Yedlin can handle it, he plays for Newcastle after all". FFS
I guess what pissed me of the most is the same problem that we've had for generations....the lack of technical precision and general footballing IQ. The basic and fundamentals, if you will. Outside of the 3 you named, it was shocking to watch from everyone else. The new coach is going to have his work cut out for him.
