Chelsea's Fernando Torres looking forward to 'new start' this season
After just one goal in a torrid debut half-season at Stamford Bridge, the £50 million striker says he is settled with the Blues and is feeling "sharper and fitter"
Chelsea striker Fernando Torres says he has settled at his new club and is ready to kick-start his career at Stamford Bridge.
The Spanish forward endured a miserable four months after his £50 (€57) million January move from Liverpool, during which time he scored just one goal in 18 appearances.
Torres told reporters: “It was a difficult four months for me last season but now I am settled and really happy.
“It's a new start for me and I am feeling sharper and fitter.”
The 27-year-old implied that fatigue from several consecutive years of non-stop football had taken its toll, as he spoke happily of enjoying some long-awaited rest this summer.
“After five years without a break I could finally enjoy my holiday this summer so I am happier after a rest and some time with my family,” said Torres.
“Now I am feeling good and ready to start the new season.”
The former Atletico Madrid star will now have his attentions turned to avoiding last season’s trophyless campaign, as the Blues seek silverware under new manager Andre Villas-Boas.
Really believe he'll prove alot of people wrong this season.

you really have some idiot fans (no offense), and so do we (some embarrassing c*nts bashing Carroll because he isn't a Barca type of player)
at least, thank god, 99% of fans here are half decent.

Israeli Yossi Benayoun was booed in the first half, but Chelsea denied the crowd's reaction was anti-semitic.
What the hell
and I have no faith in Torres again now =[ I had a glimmer of hope a month ago but now meh.

Re: El Niño - Fernando José Torres Sanz
Cant blame him mate.. didnt get enough chances.. our players are thinking that he could create his own chances like Drogba.
Re: El Niño - Fernando José Torres Sanz
I agree with Ade. We could have invested 50mil in R&D to make Drogba younger
