Two things: It's retarded to play Lucas as CB, hopefully the last time we see that happen. Also, it's time to reinstate Mignolet, Karius is quite simply worse than him.

Rule of thumb IMO is that if you're talking about whether you're in the title race or not, you're not in it.
Let's call it the "Arsenal rule".

Doesn't matter if you talk or not. Arsenal has not been in title races in over a decade.

It's not true though. Art is an idiot and delusional for believing that.
Karius saves two certain goals today. Can't really blame him for the other goals other than the last one. Mignolet has done much worse.

Re: The Cherries (Sour ones) vs 5 time European Champions
You know I'm not even mad or angry about todays result.
It's disappointing but we played well in the first and controlled the game until 75th minute.
The Benny Hill last 15 minutes is just something lolworthy more than anything.
Not too worried.
Our 2 best and most important players Coutinho and Matip were missing. Matip was a huge loss.

Btw Firmino was awful. Worst player on the pitch by far.

Re: The Cherries (Sour ones) vs 5 time European Champions
we didn't really miss coutinho but we did miss matip badly. and that is a big problem for me. what that means is we are defending as individuals and not as a team.Don't call me James wrote:You know I'm not even mad or angry about todays result.

Re: The Cherries (Sour ones) vs 5 time European Champions
No, it means that Matip is a leader who dictates the backline and keeps them as a unit defending very well together.
When he's absent there are no leaders back there. Nobody is there to hold Lovren's hand like Matip does. No one is there to calm Hendo the headless chicken down.

Re: The Cherries (Sour ones) vs 5 time European Champions
I'm not disappointed with the result but the with the way it materialized. It's normal for the odd mid-lower table teams to show-up and get a result. But capitulating from 3-1 lead and that too in 15-odd minutes is pure sacrilege.
Positive notes: Origi has (seemingly) slotted-in seamlessly while Mane seems to be returning to form.

Re: The Cherries (Sour ones) vs 5 time European Champions
Reality check.
Thought the game was won and didn't see it out..........
Lucas did better than Lovren and he's not even a CB. You can hardly blame Leiva today.
I think you're the last person to call anybody delusional mate. Calma.
Karius hasn't done much better than Mignolet, no. Mignolet has made many "saves for certain goals" / kept us in games as well, he was still fault for many mistakes costing us points as well, just like how Karius has done.
Karius does have the excuse that he is still adapting to a shaky defence line and in a new environment, but IMO the real issue with what we're conceding is our defence. It's painfully clear how bad we are defensively when Matip isn't playing. It's just a shame Sakho had to make a fuss / build bridges with Klopp because he's the only defender that is in the same bracket as Matip. Now he's on his way out in January and we're stuck with Lucas and Lovren.....

Re: The Cherries (Sour ones) vs 5 time European Champions
I don't think Matip would have made a massive difference in the result. There were breakdowns all over the field. Even as bad as Lovren's header was Milner's penalty play was actually about 10x dumber and completely unnecessary. On every other goal there were multiple levels of breakdown (and somehow Cook turned into Ronaldinho with his touch and finish for his goal). Even the last goal I won't put on Karius too much. He was never going to be able to catch that with the power and dip on it, given where it bounced -- we needed to have someone on our team be the first to get to that rebound but everyone was just caught watching it.
This was just an example of the team thinking the game was over before it was, and caving under the pressure of an underdog team fighting their hearts out to the last minute. A deserved loss but not an indication of any kind of sinking ship or fundamental issue with the team. It happens to everyone.
That said, in the moment, it was extremely frustrating and hard to watch.

Re: The Cherries (Sour ones) vs 5 time European Champions
the question is why do Liverpool suffer so many days like this. I know all teams lose games you expect to win it happens to the best of teams but with Liverpool games like that come round like clock work. we could win the next 5 games 5-0 but we all know another melt down is just around the corner. we went from being a very good team a few weeks ago to right now being the joke of football.
