Some of the locations are just incredible man. DLC was quite a disappointment (apart form the last boss) but the base game is easily a 9.5/10.

After doing all other games melee, going with a pyromancer build because I heard its GOAT this game.

Resisting putting points in strength, all these weapons with minimum 24 strength in my inventory ffs...

Any tips for a pyro build? Especially with weapons. Been using the ice sword you get from killing the mini version of the second boss.

Seen the Nameless King be hyped as the best boss fight of the series. Can't wait for him and the DLC bosses.

I beat the game last week. Nameless King, Abyss Watchers, Pontiff Sulyvahn, Champion Gundyr, Dragonslayer Armour and Lothric, Younger Prince were all fun battles for me.

Mine was a pyro + dex build iirc. I'll have to scroll through the first part of this thread to find what weapon i was using but 80% sure i was using Astora greatsword (chaos infused later on). If you are putting most of the points in INT then most spells will be OP. Healing spells are not great to use since most are so slow but they come in handy if you want to save estus. Make sure to get the pyromancy flame to +10 asap

Man this feels like a proper sequel to Dark Souls. There's so many connections with the first game and from what I've seen so far absolutely zero link with Dark Souls 2. Miyazaki was not involved with DS2 much so not surprising but it still feels like the game was a random spin off.

I thought Smouldering Lake was Ash Lake at first but its clearly Lost Izalith/Demon Ruins. Even has the corpse of Quelaag's sister with her pyromancy tome. Wondering if I missed any other previous DS1 areas. Is Undead Settlement also Undead Parish? The place is very different but its thousands of years of difference.

Seeing the name Firelink Shrine at the beginning made me smile but its clearly not the same from DS1. It actually looks like Kiln where you fought Gwyn. So many returning characters so far in Andre, Patches and another Knight of Catarina...unreal fanservice.

there were a few nods and hints to DS2 and a couple more in the DLC if I recall but yeah, mostly Dark Souls 1 links.

Found the first DS2 link. Knight Slayer Tsorig uses Fume Ultra Greatsword and I got it after killing him. Of course it needs 50 strength

So many mimic chests in this game ffs. And they are buffed up from the previous games by a lot. One of them killed a demon miniboss in three hits. Accidental cheese for me Laughing

Don't think it's possible to save Greirat. He dies in all his storylines iirc.

Well I looked it up and apparently Siegward is supposed to save him. I screwed it up by going to Ithryll Dungeon before killing Pontiff which spawns Siegward in prison. At least the Siegward quest is still on course, he helped me out with Yhorm.

Pissed at the Yuria thing. I missed out on one of the endings because of it. There was a note in front of a statue telling of an illusion so naturally I attacked and that killed her assassin.

Mimics have been responsible for losing more Souls for me than you can count since after such a crucial death I rarely get back to getting them back.

But the technique for them is adapting the habit of slashing any chest you see first rather than hoping it is not a mimic.

I know Anor Londo like the back of my hand. The first thing I did was go to the giant blacksmith. And he's dead Sad My fav blacksmith Sad So much better than that grumpy pos Andre. Also found Laddersmith Gilligan from DS2 dead in Profaned Capital.

Absolutely smashed Aldrich with pyro :banderas:

Immediately transported to Dancer boss fight with 50000 souls on me :jackson:

But I didnt need much estus for Aldrich so I managed to smash two bosses back to back :banderas:

Btw is Anor Londo the PVP hotspot? I couldnt stand there for 40 seconds embered without being invaded. Ran a gauntlet ffs, third invader managed to kill me.

Up to Untended Graves...interesting place. Took me a while to notice its reverse Cemetery Of Ash/Firelink Shrine. Reminds me of randomly stumbling into the real world version of Hunters Dream in Bloodborne. Gonna read up the lore on it after I finish the game.

Champion Gundyr fucking anti vaxxer pos not letting me heal at all during the fight  Ragesmashed his second phase with pyro too.

I'm assuming you mean archdragon peak. I would never have found it without looking it up. I actually got up to the last boss. I died on his second phase and remembered I have not met Nameless King yet and looked it up online. Man this game is quite short compared to previous games, especially DS2.  Especially considering the optional areas.

That DS1 final boss music during Cinder's second phase...and then him using Gwyn's moves during the second phase...

I kinda expected the last boss will be the DS1 main character. It sort of is since Soul Of Cinder is basically a combo of everyone who linked the First Flame including Gwyn.

Also @RealGunner you noticed how a big MGS3 fan Miyazaki is? He used a location like the final Big Boss vs Boss fight for final bosses in both DS3 and Sekiro.

Bloodborne as well if you think about it.

I didn't think DS3 was that short (but then my memory is hazysince i did 4 playthroughs). DS1 is shorter. DS2 is definitely the longest.

I prefer the lore of DS2 over DS 1 n 3. Think it's a lot more 'complete' with better characters. In hindsight, they should have made the final boss of DS3 to be the main characters from DS 1 and 2.

Interested to see what you think about the DLC.

FromSoft really loves Havel don't they...

Ancient Wyvern "boss fight" notsureifsrs

I'm not sure but DS1 really felt longer to me. I remember how after getting the Lordvessel you have to get the four main boss souls...here you just breeze through the cinders.

I prefer DS1+3 lore over DS2 any day. The story of Gwyn and his children is superior for me, by comparison Nashandra and Aldia are so forgettable.

they're all great but I prefer Gwyn's story too, mostly because DS1 was my first

also Nameless King being Gwyn's firstborn was cool but I always believed in the Solaire theories

I hope Elden Ring also has fantastic lore for its universe
