£50 now says Newcastle and brighton both beat Liverpool next season.Firenze wrote:Just looked at the championship table, dat feeling when Premier League mainstays are about to get relegated
everyone always says it's an insanely tough league to get out of, had no doubts Newcastle would be back the next season though
quite interested to see how Brighton do

Firenze wrote:the top 4 of the PL (and Spurs are becoming consistent at it) is an attractive destination for any manager in the world, hell Klopp's stock was damn high and he went to Loserpool. It's fast becoming THE destination to be.
Best league in the world etc.
That logic is completely flawed though because Liverpool has an incredible history, a large (albeit unbearable imo) fanbase, historic traditions, and is still one of the big clubs in England. Spurs have none of that. It's very clear that the aforementioned reasons played a huge hand in Klopp wanting to go to Liverpool.
Spurs would need to build that. Poch is trying and he's doing an amazing job, but I have to be a little critical following this FA cup lost--how are Spurs not at least getting to finals and competing in different cups? Simply pushing for a title doesn't do you much good. Either way, it will take a long time to get anywhere near what Liverpool has.
He needs to improve next year in the CL and in other domestic cups.

spurs will never be where Liverpool are there is far to much competition for them to ever have a run of dominance.CBarca wrote:Firenze wrote:the top 4 of the PL (and Spurs are becoming consistent at it) is an attractive destination for any manager in the world, hell Klopp's stock was damn high and he went to Loserpool. SPurs are playing better football than Liverpool ever have in the PL era, belee dat. For the most part they've done so consistently over the last few years too.
I was compiling my team of the season and consulted whoscored to see CB appearances since I wanted to check for Alderweireld and Bailly..got mad distracted by this atrocity and no I'm not talking about Pogba's inclusion
this is their TOTS so far

A goalkeeper for the worst team in the league in team of the season

tough to leave out Coutinho, Mane and Sanchez tho tbh, Bailly a tad biased too, but we have the best defense in the league IMO and Bailly is a mountain. Van Dijk ehhh.
Coutinho and Mane probably would be in my TOTS if they weren't out for so long injured.

Liverpool play better football than spurs now and played better football than spurs under Rodgers. the reason spurs finish higher is they can defend.Firenze wrote:SPurs are playing better football than Liverpool ever have in the PL era, belee dat. Haven't Spurs conceded like 22 goals? Feel like one of their CBs should be in there.

I didn't know that tbh. I would have thought spurs and Chelsea have conceded less goals than you.Firenze wrote:tough to leave out Coutinho, Mane and Sanchez tho tbh, Bailly a tad biased too, but we have the best defense in the league IMO and Bailly is a mountain. Van Dijk ehhh.

Spurs have conceded 2 goals less in the league, but we've had our main CB's injured throughout the season and basically have a different CB duo every other week. Also I feel like we've barely conceded any goals this year

Fair enough, although Alderweireld dying his hair to look like Geralt should be punished tbh.

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 13
a quick glance tells me we've conceded 9 goals since the start of december in the league, we were pretty leaky early in the season and 4 goals came in that crazy match against Chelsea and 3 when Watford smashed us
finishing and superhuman goalkeeping has really hurt us this season, cannot criticize the defending, only reason De Gea isn't in the TOTS for me is because the defense has left him with not much to do each game

Prime VDV, Bayol, Peter 'titan' Crouch era they were pretty damn good too, hammering the likes of Inter, Prime Milan and being competitive with Madrid in the CL. Liverpool have had like 1 good season in the last few years m8. Spurs have had multiple.

mourinho is one of the best when it comes to defending tbh. I don't like the football he plays but his teams can always defend well.Firenze wrote:a quick glance tells me we've conceded 9 goals since the start of december in the league, we were pretty leaky early in the season and 4 goals came in that crazy match against Chelsea and 3 when Watford smashed us

I feel like based on this you should forget fullbacks and go full hipster 343 imo for an extra midfielder or forward

I've actually been surprised though in how we've played this season, we honestly haven't parked prime Mourinho buses besides early on in the season in a few games Mourinho was too scared to lose. For the most part we've been far more open than I expected from a Mourinho side. I know I have shit on Mourinho a few times in post match ramblings, but honestly our finishing has let us down so much this season, I'm expecting decent things going forward. We haven't been outplayed more than a couple times this season.

I was going to do this but then I realized the only one that made sense to drop was Valencia
anyway anyone else have a different TOTS?

Re: English Premier League '16-'17 Discussion - Part 13
Firenze speaks the truth even though I lol'd at competitive with Madrid.
There was just a bit of a rough patch in there between now and that time. Even then they had prime Bale and a good season or two under AVB where they were better than Pool. The only time since like 08-09 where Pool has been better was when Spurs had a horrorshow season including Tim Sherwood at the helm and that was the same season Coach Suarez brought Mr. Slippy and all of his friends a couple points away from a title.
