Re: The 2017/18 Calcio Thread: Part 2
In that case, i agree with the "Mandzukic deserves to be the starting striker against Napoli" statement.
Yes it's sad for Montella, never was given more than a C+ squad to work with at Milang. His Fiorentina squad was better and he got some nice results if we remember. I see his dismissal as the usual powder to the eyes from the general managers who want to delay their admitment of failure.

Re: The 2017/18 Calcio Thread: Part 2
This is because Atalanta played EL away match on Thursday (Lazio and Milan played it at home)
Anyway there is always good reason to take Benevento and Hellas Verona on Monday. At least it will be watched from the least possiblle number of people. And Eastern mercato can ignore the exsistence of cerrtain Serie A teams.
Teramo - Sambenedettese looks like more interesting in this evening.

Cristante with his 8th goal of the season @Fassone @Mirabelli @Kaladin
In all seriousness, should we talk about Bryan Cristante? looks like the player the hype told us he would be at Milan. Best midfielder at Atalanta this season. Still only 22.

Yeah , at the end it is hard to rate players from Atalanta, it is particular system that make better every player.
I remind when Gagliardini looked like great and instead he is average at max. Don't get deceived from our league played so far, he is usually our weakness.
Or asking to Milan fans about Kessie..
Cristante was best Atalanta player this year , but he was ghost in Palermo and Pescara in past ... need to understand if he is really improved or just another fraud carried by Gasperini

Gran Gala Del Calcio 2017 team of the year:
Mertens-Higuain-Dybala
Hamsik-Nainggolan-Pjanic
Sandro-Koulibaly-Bonucci-Dani Alves
Buffon
Hamsik-Nainggolan-Pjanic
Sandro-Koulibaly-Bonucci-Dani Alves
Buffon
Dybala shouldn't be there over one of Belotti/Immobile/Dzeko
Dani Alves certainly, CERTAINLY, should not be here. Only made 19 Serie A appearances ffs
Buffon named player of the year

Re: The 2017/18 Calcio Thread: Part 2
You guys are too impatient. Gagliardini is 23 and a fixed starter for Inter over Brozovic and Mario. Give the kid time, it doesn't have to be GOAT or average. He was a starter for Pioli and a starter for Spalletti.
Kessie is as much a scrub as Bonucci, Rodriguez, Biglia, etc. i.e. everyone at Milan looks like a scrub.
A team's system can only carry its players so much. In the end its the players that play. If Atalanta looked that good with a midfield of Kessie-Gagliardini, then it was Kessie-Gagliardini doing that. Gasperini is only doing his job well to allow the players to shine. Kessie looked clearly better than De Roon does now, same with Gagliardini and Freuler. I don't even want to get into the drop in quality from Conti to Hateboer. These kids were the ones performing in the end.

Hard to know for Cristante, so far a great season where he seems like a do-it-all midfielder. But before that ? he had a fraudish path of career, to say the least
One thing sure, i wouldn't want Juve to go after him next summer.
Also that was 2016-2017 true TOTS from what i remember...
MERTENS-DZEKO-CALLEJON
PJANIC-NINJA-HAMSIK
SANDRO-?????-BONUCCI-CONTI
BUFFON

Now according to Gazetta Inter is on Cristante, as well as Barella and Chiesa. Its november, no one should go for Cristante anyway. We have to see how his full season progresses.

Re: The 2017/18 Calcio Thread: Part 2
Anyway the ES skepticism is justified, I was thinking that the last mezz'ala under Gasperini to have looked like great was ... Bertolacci
Usual November rumours though , so it's nothing real.
Then I 've read the prices of these 3 players .. ffs then someone asks because noone wants to invest on Italian players...
Sczezsny in place of Buffon.
and imo Rudiger on that space

Scoring 26 for Torino and 29 for Roma is even more impressive that Merten's goals imo (he was huge too ofc). The first two meant more to their teams for me. Papu as well has to be there. The rest are standard.

Higuain should be there and player of the season for me
Pretty sure he was already Juve's MVP and the main reason we won the scudetto last season, he was very decisive

He was our mvp no doubt but I don't know if he carried us more than that front 3 carried their teams. He had a LOT more help than Papu and Belotti and a bit more than Dzeko who scored all he touched for Roma.
On the other hand the mvp of the champions probably deserves to be there.

That's my reasoning, its a scudetto won just by 4 points. While he scored a handful of less goals than Dzeko, his goals were every bit as decisive and important for us.
Dybala and Alves are almost laughable inclusions. We all know Dybala is great but team of the season should be used to recognize players who had great seasons and in Serie A, its hard to justify his inclusion as a forward over a handful of others. Dani Alves has been living off his name for 2-3 seasons now

Its a lifetime achievement award more than anything but yeah, terrible. Last season was Bonucci over Higuain's 36 goal season, kind of limits the credibility of such a thing
Buffon wasn't even named Juventus' MVP
