A few interesting calls there. Mustafi at RB is an odd one, but I guess Emery wants more defensive security (lol) and doesn't think AMN can provide it. Kolasinac was horrendous vs City so I can see why he's been dropped for this one. Torreira's not been in great form, but I'm nervous about Guendouzi against Spurs' pressing. Ramsey over Ozil was obvious, as was only going with one striker. At least we can bring Ozil and Auba on if we need to.

Anyways, Emery got everything spot on. Sokratis was immense and rightfully the MOTM. Him and Koscielny compliment each other so well.

Shame our strikers let us down.

I would argue the subs didnt do their jobs today. Torreira got bullied hard and red carded, Ozil did not press and contributed little going forward, Aubameyang missed. Motm is our 2 CB and probably Mkhi.

Those subs were pretty much nailed on even before the match started though.

I think Ozil was unfortunate that we conceded as soon as he came on because there was enough space for him to operate when we were 1-0 up.

Laca for Auba is hard. Auba would have scored one of the two sitters. Laca likewise would have scored that penalty. But it was an obvious sub.

argh hard to get over this

I'm mostly frustrated at the moment. The defending was good, we got our goal on the counter and Spurs looked flat. Then the linesman fucks us and our two in-form strikers miss four excellent chances.

Before the game I would have taken a point. After the game, I can't help but feel its two points dropped.

I had zero confidence Auba would score. It's easy to say after the fact, but my gut instinct was that he'd miss, because I don't trust his penalty taking technique, especially not in the final stages of a game. That's a situation where you need someone to smash it into a corner, and not try to be clever by rolling it to one side. He went the same side as he did in the 4-2 earlier in the season and Lloris read him.

Also, Spurs are the filthiest team when they aren't playing well.

for me the game was absolute shit show from the start to end.

1) we started mustafi at right back. He didnot make a single contribution the entire game and cost arsenal the penalty which spurs scored. He did not make a single worthwhile effort the entire match.
2) Arsenal had a non existent mid field the entire match i.e because XHAKA and guedanzi dont co exist. They couldnot string 3-4 passes and gave the ball away whenever spurs put pressure.

The above two were mistake of emery

3) our forwards were wasteful.

Intrinsic Issues

1) no leaders in the squad
2) arsenal cant defend and attack properly.
3) they dont know how to win ugly


I feel the spurs side should have won the match easily. Arsenal was just lucky. Emery must let the ropes loose. This side is much better in attack than defence.

"Can't attack" yet Lacazette missed two great chances. "Can't defend" but restricted Spurs to one good chance all game. "Don't know how to win ugly" yet would have done had the linesman given offside when he should have done.

Sorry, I'm all for opinions but that's a gross misreading of what happened during the game.

I really dislike how defensive we get once we take a lead in a big game. It shouldn't be an option that early in the game.

Although we still should've won but a combination of poor refereeing and finishing on our part cost us the three points and a potential place in a top 3 position.
