FIFA 20

At some point in mid-2010s you could open my sent messages and all you saw was "only luck fgt" if i lost and "3-0" or whatever the score if i won

It was my automatic answers to the Fifa community, never been the type to spam like that but i hated to leave them unreplied

Haven't played Fifa since 2018 on PS3 sometimes i feel like buying PS4 just for it, but i suppose that would be a waste of money

Back during the heyday of CoD, I also used to get a lot of «fucking hacker noob!», as if they needed to comfort their ego by convincing themselves that they only lost because I was hacking (I wasn’t)

Finally won Division 1 after 8 attempts. I'm retiring from this game, it ain't good for my heart.

Shame there are no online friendlies in FIFA any more. You know, a mode where you can experiment with different formations and tactics, play lower level teams, and not be required to win all the time (there is one in FUT but I ain't touching that atrocity).

Last time i played was Fifa 18

FUT still a bit different than Seasons in terms of gameplay ? I can recall strong physical players had a huge advantage there, while the Seasons settings are more like "the normal game"

Also in FUT there used to be long stints where my team forgets how to play. As a negative bias to force me making changes to my squad. Passes don't connect well, shooting is way off, ball control takes 2 seconds...

About the online seasons, EA first used the division system in World Cup 2010 game if i remember well. It was positive for this particular game, however for the main game Fifa, i prefer the match making of FIFA 11 and before. Back then you could actually take a game off to experiment.

I don't agree that Journey or Volta (as cringy and lame both were) are the reason why FIFA hasn't improved in recent years. EA have more than enough resources to have different teams working on different aspects of the game, especially with a title that makes them more money than any other franchise they own. It is FUT that swallows all EA's attention.

FUT was the worst thing that happened to FIFA. I never enjoyed it to begin with and never will; it is a shallow game mode for kids.

It is because there aren't that many other options around. If you want to play a football game you either gotta buy FIFA or PES.

Things are even worse for basketball, where 2K have been dominating the market for decades now. That game is even more vile than FIFA.

Me, MT & Tom played 1 forced style till div 3 where we just quit and haven't gotten back yet. Way too sweaty because of broken gameplay.

Worst FIFA in years. The defending mechanics are so broken.

Gameplay has slowed down gradually since FIFA 18, and they’ve added gimmicky features like, pressing the shoot/circle button (twice) in time with a color indicator under the player that flashes green or red or something. It makes shots more powerful and accurate, but no one uses it because it’s a fucking stupid feature.

I didn’t buy FIFA 20, but I’ve played it and it’s unbelievably bad, in my opinion. Slow, clunky, not fun to play.

16, 19 & 20. I see 0 difference in terms of gameplay. I don't know about that gimmick feature. Must have turned it off a while ago.

I literally only buy it for clubs. Last year was cancer with the OP heading & garbage Any defending. This one has 1 playstyle that forces sweaty games.

Anyway who still plays/has Fifa 20? Me & Tom wants to play again but needs to be atleast 4 people since 3 man is ass.

Me, MT & Tom got our main club to Div 3 before we "quit".

I own 18 and I'd say it's actually quite different to 19 that I've played at a friend's place. 19 feels more difficult, we play a two-man career mode with my friend and we really struggle to score goals on world-class lol.

Thought about buying 20 for these corona times, but apparently career mode is still ass and that's what I would have played, so no thanks.

Was wondering why the series keep getting worse and it's probably just the engine, that's more outdated than a boomers lifespan.

If only they bothered to do a little about clubs in terms of gameplay :/

I played it extensively right before the outbreak and was keen to put it aside once I won Division 1.

As with any game, the 'meta' is horrible but I have never come so close to throwing my controller in my whole life.

Unfortunately EA don't do much to solve the issues. My biggest issues were:

• The game allows pin-point accurate driven passes to be made from your defence to your attack despite a crowded penalty box. For years now there has been no point in 'clearing' the ball under riskiest of circumstances when your pleb defender Lovren can laser guide a pass to Mané 60 yards away while being unbalanced and hustled. This is how I concede the majority of the goals scored against me. Followed by...
  
• Tackling which is very hit and miss. You can tackle a player cleanly twice and somehow he manages to keep hold of the ball and go on to score. Oh and your defender gets nutmegged when the game wants you to, nothing to do with skill whatsoever despite the perfect jostle.
  
• Everyone plays PSG speed rape with Neymar and Mbappé.
  
• There are overpowered tactics like 'Overload Ball Side' which every one on Division 2 upwards use.
  
• Crossing and heading is completely broken thus narrowing down your tactics to short passing and quick counters down the middle.. I think I scored 3 goals from crosses in 17 seasons. Even your deliver the inch perfect cross and your unmarked striker manages to squander the header 2 out of 3 times.
  
• Skills dribbling is also broken except for the moment the game decides it is not, then you're going to run past defenders no matter how good they defend. I actually had to send a message to an opponent apologising for two goals in succession in such unfair fashion.

Agreed with your points like PSG (also France) & the deletion of crossing/heading.

My biggest problem with the game is the passing. It's insane how many times i've failed simple passes from a 90+ midfielder like Modric or Kroos. I get you can't do an accurate 180 pin point pass from midfield to the LW or the need to put more power in passes than usual. But simple forward passes should never fail unless you yourself fuck up. 90% of goals concedes is becuase of a failed pass.

Second is scoring. It's ridiculous how hard it is to score in the box. They either nerfed this or overbuffed GK's in general.

Third is interception. This literally killed dribbling & skills because all you need to do is stand back and let your player auto win the ball in close quarter.

First fifa since 16 & only bought to play the usual Clubs. Me, Tom & MT got to div 3 then ragequit cause of 1 forced playstyle because you couldn't do dribbling, tricks, crossing, headers etc.

I don't regret buying it cause Clubs is always banter with party chat and it's the only reason for me to pick up Fifa.
